Okay ... so we seem to be looking to upgrade on our 20s. Right now we have Cyr, Seitz and Huntley. For me your OA players should be impact players or bring something else to the table.
Cyr is good enough to stick around but he needs to play with some more experienced players to be effective. Desnoyers and Daoust and Alberg are all very good but inexperienced. Cyr was always our #3 choice for one of our 3 OA slots.
Huntley has not lived up to the billing for me since he arrived last year. He is not our worst Dman but I don't find him to be anything close to an impact player. He was always our #4 choice for one of 3 OA slots.
Seitz. Seitz is simply not good enough ... he does a good job of shit disturbing and can kill penalties, and adds a small amount of toughness in a league that really doesn't need any toughness. He has some size and will play physical but he is far from an impact player. Seitz was our #5 choice as an OA. Maybe Seitz could bring more impact if he wasn't playing in a 3rd lime role with grinders ... worth a try.
At least two of the three OA slots should be filled with an impact player. You might call Cyr an impact player but he needs to play with more experienced players to show his impact ... he can't carry a line. So what we have is maybe 0.5 impact players occupying our OA slots. That has to improve. I really see very little in the way of leadership happening out there.
Of course we know this was not the plan and the plan got dealt two blows with the promotion of Mckenna and Aspirot.
Right now is the time to look for an upgrade or two as the prices are lowest now, while they will increase in December.
I am still holding out hope that McKenna will be back, but I doubt Aspirot is back. We'll probably know more on Anderson within a week (NHL/AHL seasons starting soon) which could temper the loss of Aspirot a little.

In an ideal world, you don’t upgrade OA’s and move 2-3 big pieces and load up for next year. I know I'm beating a dead horse.

Moncton has traded one of it's 20 years old on it's protected list to a club in the East. So, I would say out going. McKenna or Aspirot.

Charles-Antoine Giguere is listed on the Drakkar's roster now. If they managed to get anything for him, that’s great.

Charles-Antoine Giguere is listed on the Drakkar's roster now. MacIsaac got injured and will be out for two months. Giguère will fill in.

Wasn't Giguerre removed from our list for the purpose of the draft ? If so we probably get nothing.

I thought he was as well - perhaps there is some other, hidden, list that players like him go on ... wouldn't be the first time we hear of something odd like that in the league. Either way, can't imagine he would fetch much ...

BC have assets who could interest the Wildcats: Xavier Bouchard Jared MacIsaac. Bringing these two to Moncton would go a long way in stabilizing your D as a contender. However there would have to be futures like probably Desnoyers attached to the deal.

Agree on Seitz and Huntley, but I think you are being really hard on Cyr calling him "0.5" of an overage slot. Cyr has been a point per game player the last two years and doesnt play on the first power play unit. He was terrific in the playoffs and wins a ton of face-offs. He's no Jeremy McKenna but I think he would still be one of the better overagers in the league.

He's no Jeremy McKenna but I think he would still be one of the better overagers in the league. Steve didn't say .5 of an overager. He said .5 of an impact overager. I think that's actually a fair statement. I'd call Gentile that here in CB. He's not good enough to carry anything on his own. But good enough to play with the high end guy who can finish and do other things. But the point is that you are not going to build a winner around those players on their own. Which is a reason they're still in junior as overagers. Point totals and impact are not necessarily the same things.
