I was just comparing them to the leafs. It might not be as much to do with size and more to do with losing puck battles.

No size or grit up front and a bunch of offensive defensemen that cant or won't play defense. You just nailed our issues on the head there. Has as much or more to do with our losing than coaching. That and all our high end talent is 17 years old pretty much, in a league dominated by 19-20 year olds. Everyone wanting Dixon gone though will get their wish soon. Once we lose these next 4 straight home games the axe is gonna fall. If they lose the next three games should be enough. Two games against Bathurst.

Well I said four home games simply because after the 4th one they go back on a Quebec road trip. If there's someone out there for a replacement that would give them time to find the replacement and get them in place before the team plays in SJ again.

I think that after this weekend if you lose twice to Bathurst then something will happen. You are at risk right now of missing the playoffs three years in a row, which is unheard of really. The longer you go without making a Coaching change could be critical.
Right now I think Gatineau is the weakest team but play a weaker schedule ... and Bathurst may have passed you guys into 3rd weakest ... only because they work their butts off every game. SJ has more talent but lacks the work ethic.

I couldn’t decide if this post should go in this thread, under the Christmas trade thread , or it’s very own thread.
Management or McCain needs to do something to create some positive energy around this team. People are sick of losing. I’m sure the team is as well. Games are poorly attended. There has been no buzz around the city about them. Very little media coverage.
They need to do something. Add a couple of veteran defensemen that can play and not Junior A caliber 19 year olds.
Fire the coach? Not sure that will help this year unless players are added.
Fire the GM for thinking it was a good idea wto go with 5 17 year olds on the blue line?
They actually played a good game last night if you take out the span where the Sags scored three goals in the first.

The reason I say fire the coach is because we are a midpack team on paper that plays like it every once in a while, then we have boughts where better coaching/preparation could make an enormous impact on our outcomes

I thought the defence played awful last night and that only the goaltending and the offence kept it close, with maybe a little help from the refs on Badalementi's goal.

Problem is not the coaching. The problem is that management has had to make so many promises to kids to commit that the players in the middle get nothing. If a player doesnt want to play for you let him go. Do your homework before the draft and draft players who want to play. Cant promise everyone first pp and first line ice time. Time will pass by and all these promised players will just move on to other teams and have success elsewhere. Take players who are proud to wear the teams colors and who want to learn.

I'm one of the many that believe the Sea Dogs would be better off making some form of coaching change, especially to add a proven defensive coach at least.
However, my pet peeve of the day is the lack of transparency around roster moves. For example, Aiden Macintosh played his first game with the Fredericton Red Wings last night - and had 1G & 1A - but the Sea Dogs did not say a thing. How about a simple message such as; "Aiden Macintosh has been reassigned to the Fredericton Red Wings. We thank Aiden for his efforts with the Sea Dogs and wish him well in the MHL".
Ugh!

This weekend showed how much the Seadogs are hurting. This tactic of going the year with a ‘cheap’ coach is hurting both the players development as it is hurting them in the pocket books. No way there was more than 2000 people there today. 1800 if they were lucky.
Letting the game slip on Saturday is as much on the coach as the players. Defence was horrible. Most of our D are either slow, lazy or both or improper coached. Take your pick.
Time for a change

This thread could have also been called fire Georgie or both.
I was happy with the work that Trevor had done up until this past draft but since then he has made some bad decisions.
I think his decisions at the draft were wrong. Taking all of the NCAA guys were wasted picks and Roy. I know it's a little early to say that Roy is a bust but he does not look like a first overall pick. I hope he proves me wrong and has a better second half.
Then he drafts another 17 year old d man in the Euro draft instead of taking a high end Forward.
He should have brought in at least one very good 19 or 20 year old d man.
He should have hired a proven coach to work with the defense. Someone that has played the position.
And if all of those reasons are not good enough then what about his record as president on the business side. Attendance continues to get worse every game.
Edit: I must add that I should give him credit for signing Patenaude. He has looked good his last couple of games.
Also the team has been playing better of late.

Hard to fault Georgie for taking the guy who was rated #1 most of the year. Most GMs would have taken him. How he's being developed so far leaves a bit to be desired but is another matter. I think he's being under-used and should have had some stints on the top 2 lines. But I don't recall anyone complaining about the pick at the time. If anything, I remember people being relieved. From what I heard from multiple independent sources, there is a very good chance of at least one of the high profile NCAA guys reporting next season. And if we did not take him when we had this chance, there was a strong possibility of a certain provincial rival doing so and he would have been just as likely to have reported there. People would have been calling for Georgie's head if that happened. I'm willing to wait to see how that draft plays out before judging him too much either way for that one. I was disappointed we weren't able to find a better 19 year old somewhere to play D but let's not forget that 2 veteran D no-showed at training camp for whatever reason. Roy is 20 so no guarantee there would have been a spot for him since we already have 3 good 20s but at least he brought in that option. Hard to say how Sibley would have fit into this group but I thought he looked pretty good defensively at 16 and 17 on some not so great teams so he could have been exactly what was needed. Unfortunately by the time he learned they weren't coming, options were limited. I'll see what he does to address it at the Christmas trade period when more options should be available to him.

I didn't have a problem with the Reynolds pick. I had problems with the multiple wasted picks after that pick. I know I shouldn't have thrown the Roy pick into the equation. He was rated in the top 3.
