Interesting timing as they've won 4 of their last 5 and 7 of their last 12. One of the better stretches in his time here. I think the Shawinigan loss was the final nail in the coffin though and the turn around was too quick to let him go before yesterday's game, which would have been another loss if not for some great goaltending.

Also they should have lost in CB the other night as well , if not for a 48 save performance from Bouthillier.

Time to clean house . Get rid of all management and scouting. Then hire a real GM who knows hockey and let that person hire hockey people. Starting with scouting then a new hockey coach, not just a name but a real dedicated hockey person who can teach. Now your on the right track to development.

Let's do some comparisons of "Year 2 rebuild records";
2006-07 20 47 1 0.307 2013-14 19 44 5 0.316 2019-20 12-16-1 0.431
I'd say we are on track in the "development" cycle and our fan base is spoiled thinking we should win every year.

I can definitely see some of this. People forget how "all in" you went in 2017. It might be 2.5 years later...but thats the risk in going "all in" in a way where you return less then a handful of players. What can any manager or coach do with no talent and few picks? Even the best 16yr olds at this level can't carry teams without some help. The struggles shouldn't shock anyone.

Either way we are in year 2 rebuild (if starting at year 0) or year 3 rebuild (if starting at year 1). That gives a totally different picture: 2007-08 5 41-22-4-3 0.636 2014-15 10 32-26-4-6 0.544 2019-20 15 12-16-1-0 0.431

We are in year 2, there's a throw away year this time where we stood pat. the rebuild did not start then.

We should be comparing this season to 2014-2015, not 2013-2014. The big difference though is that we had 2 first round picks in 2012 coming off a championship season, where as we didn't draft until round 3 following the 2017 championship. Another difference is that the drafts in 2014, 2016 and anything after round 1 in 2015 were absolutely terrible. So 3 straight years of bad drafting by Young caught up to us eventually. A better draft in 2014 and we don't need to buy as much for the 2017 championship, and likely have more returning assets to help the rebuild.

We are in year 2, there's a throw away year this time where we stood pat. the rebuild did not start then. The rebuild starts after the championship run. This is year 3. The team should be showing more promise at this point. Dixon out and Cowan in (for now) is a huge plus for this team.

IMO doesn’t count as Year 1 of the rebuild because they had no picks or players to trade to do anything with. It’s a hard reset and year 0.
