I am not 100% sold on Rumsey - I think he could still go either way. His numbers this year are drastically inflated by getting to play with Pelletier and Khovanov - though to his credit he managed to earn the minutes over some of the other depth players, and he was reasonably productive once put there. Will be interesting to see how he fares in Bathurst with more ice time, but weaker line mates.

What are you talking about? I’m pretty sure you missed the point entirely. The rumour is Pelletier and Spence as the big pieces in the Groulx and McIsaac trade. Desnoyers being the big piece in the Fortier trade. I am not missing anything. McIsaac and Groulx are in their final year of junior. Next year, Pelletier and Spence are in their final year. How are they possibly worth twice the value next year, as to McIsaac and Groulx this year. Look, I have no idea what the end trade is. But what sense is it to Halifax to trade these two high end final year guys, to get back two final year guys next year. It's not like it is not a competitive market this year. If they are returning the 1sts, what is the net gain. A couple of 2nds and a 3rd. Hardly worth the risk. Halifax is obviously not going in next year. No but they're entering a rebuild and trying to line up when they get picks again with when they really start to accumulate assets to try and build another strong core. If they get 2nds+3rds and the equivalent of what they traded now then it's a slight risk but the potential to sell off those 2 guys for more assets and start to line a rebuild up properly makes more sense then getting unknown future 1sts and kids when you basically are building around 1 16yr old right now. They cash out on Pelletier, Spence, and Barron next year and they can better control the age of their assets and possible focus on a certain year for getting picks to make sure they're getting multiple top 16's at once vs 4 spread out over 3 drafts or something as they may have faced now with what they were being offered. But at least wait and see what the final back and forth assets are before getting too deep into criticizing the deal. There's currently nothing to evaluate but Groulx for picks. In this league it's pointless to evaluate a trade until you know the full deal.

Still not enthused about the move but the offensive depth is ridiculous at this point with the ability to play 2 elite forwards on the top 3 lines and Hudson potentially being on the 4th line. They can sustain an injury or 2 and still have a solid top 6 that could go against any team.

I would have rather sent Foreman even though he is more well rounded and kept Rumsey for upside.

I find he’s taken a step forward, but he doesn’t have the upside of Rumsey. If you play him with stars he will produce more, but not a lot. He could be a guy they flip for a decent pick next year if he gets more minutes with better players. Based on rumors of Spence Pelletier and Desnoyers going as futures, it will be pretty lean next year… L’heureux, Hudson(20), Daoust, Stewart, Stewart, Foreman, Langlois, Dow, DeJong(20), Wilson, Desrosiers, DLC(20 ?), Breton. Hopefully they can grab two impact Euros and some FA’s…

Maybe I haven't seen enough of Leonard...this move seems like getting older just for the sake of getting older.
I have no problem making the future worse when you're bringing in game changers for this season. This move makes the future slightly worse for what I see as next to no change to this season.

I think it sort of depends on how you view Rumsey ... is he an emerging future star, or is he a guy who finally made the team at 18 after being cut twice whose stats this year are a bit of a mirage based on who he got to play with? I think Leonard makes us slightly better this year - probably similar skill, with more grit. Remains to be seen what we lose long term - not inconceivable that Leonard ends up being a 20 year old next year.

Almost noon now and still not even one of the trades announced ( Fortier or Leonard). I know the office was closed yesterday, but am I just being impatient expecting at least to see a trade on the site by now, even if it’s another team?

After Leonard started scoring in Nov. last year he was .60 points per game on a truly terrible team.

Maybe mathew34 forgot to make his wake-up calls ? 🤣 I think we will see trades on the Q site by 2pm NB time today.
