I’d imagine his other job opportunities were limited because of the uncertainty surrounding everything because of COVID. Probably a smart move to secure the job and then try to jump back to the pros next year. Great for the cats though.

Expect an American free agent to be added to Moncton's preseason roster this week. He has an NCAA committment with Quinnipiac. I assume that it’s him: www.eliteprospects.com/player/201796/seamus-campbellHis dad played in the Q in the 90s so it makes sense I guess

Seems to have a committment with Langley of the BCHL for next season and then Quinnipiac for 2021/2022.

His dad also spent three seasons in Fredericton, back in the AHL days with the Express .

That's correct. Seems to have a committment with Langley of the BCHL for next season and then Quinnipiac for 2021/2022. He seems to have played at a relatively low level last year - NA3HL (first player to commit to a D-1 school in 4 years from that league). But he’s ranked by NHL central scouting this year (195 NA skaters so likely won’t be drafted). So he must have some skill if he’s rated by Central Scouting. I’m interested to see him at camp.

Tuesday is the CHL Import Draft. Moncton has pick 50 and 110.
Those numbers will improve to 42nd overall and 66th overall.

Moncton doesn’t have a European Scout. Their picks are based on connections.

Their picks are based on connections. Most teams are like that, they scout the U17 and U18 tournaments and use agents to get players over. I'm sure Thibeau and Lacroix have a lot of contacts via NHL clubs too.

Their picks are based on connections. That depends on their plan with Spence and Stewart. If they plan on trading Spence ASAP, maybe getting an 18/19 year old D makes sense. They definitely have more openings up front. Goalie I think they go with Cornish plus one of the 17 year olds(Dimatta or Sheehan).

this likely gets him more games than waiting for AHL, though hard to know the impact of Covid in Russia.
