If you are hating the Drover deal, it is probably because you don't remember the players he and Larose were at the time. That was a ridiculous thing for CB to do from a value standpoint and competent ownership would have fired their GM if he tried to justify overpaying by saying RHD cost more. Drover didn't become the player we hoped he'd be by now, but that trade was still a good move. I was a fan of the move at the time. I'm saying in hindsight I don't like it at all because they barely gave him much of a chance here. All this being said, it's not lost on me that Larose might not have developed into the same player here (without a true D coach) that he did in CB. But I still think he could have helped quite a bit last season and this season. Drover has been top 6 most of this year. He played some last year and never did anything with it. I like the kid but he is maddeningly inconsistent.

Dawson Stairs is another player who will likely be traded before the deadline. It would not shock me if it happened.

I would have thought next year they would be very very good but now players that I expected to be a part of it are dropping off fast. Drover, Roy, now Stairs? They may still be a power house next year but something seems wrong in Sea Dog land.

Only one of those guys has been traded, but if any more go, it will involve balancing out our ages a little (ie not an entire team if 02s and 03s)

Dawson Stairs is another player who will likely be traded before the deadline. I think PEI is a perfect fit if this is true. He screams Islanders style of player. He reminds me a little of Getson.

Not saying it never happened but it certainly didn't seem to be too often. I guess it depends on what one perceives to be the 2nd line.

The one with Reynolds on it. Our first line is Lawrence and Roy. 3rd has been Bezeau MacDonald Leonard 4th has been Carruthers and co. Drover got shuffled down there near Christmas

So I guess Saint John is leaning away from competing this year, or they are opening up room for other guys (i.e. their Euros). They seem serious about getting Hughes playing time, even if it was on the 4th line, and then there is Charles Savoie as well. If even one of Kotkov or Svechkov shows up, that puts someone on the outside. If you are looking at both showing up, then I think you are probably going to see Leonard on the way out and a 20 year old defenseman move in.

I don't know if there is any truth to it or not but where there is smoke there is usually fire. Especially if it is coming from his agent. Even if he is a moron. Not sure what you mean about guaranteeing that he would not get drafted. Do you mean to the nhl or the stunt at the Q draft? I just hope they can get a good return if they move him. An nhl team doesn't look highly on walking out on your team. As far as I know, Roy is perfectly content in SJ. At least Roy showed up in Saint John. Others didn't and it didn't make a difference for NHL teams.

An nhl team will overlook a trade demand. They would not overlook a player deciding at Christmas to abandon his team. We will obv take calls, but he will come back if he isn't moved. In a pandemic when it means he doesn’t have to quarantine again for 14 days. Also with the case count in Quebec does any one know if any of his family have been affected and the family’s health? There’s a lot of unknowns to not wanting to go to Atlantic Canada. The Pandemic give a little bit of a pardon on trade request. However if it’s the good old fashion I don’t get a long with the coach or teammates thing going on here then yes NHL teams will look poorly on that. If it was about the pandemic, he would be better in Atlantic. His hometown is Saint-Georges-de-Beauce. It's the worst place right now in Quebec (outside of Montreal) with 525 active cases per 100 000.

None of this shocks me but until it happens i'll keep my mouth shut
I did say all along tho that the young group Saint John had assembled would wind up disbanded at some point..... too many me first players and only one puck on the ice

They all want to be put into positions to succeed and they can't always do that on deep young teams.

I don't know if the rumor's are true about Roy but even if they are I don't think he was an NCAA hold out. Drover was not an NCAA hold out. He was buried on the 3rd and 4th lines and needed or wanted a change of scenery. The Stairs rumour is new so it might be true and might not.
I get what you are saying about hold outs but nobody knows if that is the case here.
I think this year is probably a right off for this group. If Gilbert can't turn some of these guys around and get them to play two way hockey then yes some changes definitely need to be made.

My point was maybe he has family that were hit hard from it and are fighting and he wants to be close to home for them. Instead of going to NB sit in a room for 2 weeks something bad happen to family he then has to go home and quarantine again then be with family. Now this is totally hypothetically speaking because I don’t know the family’s case at all, I’m just saying it’s plausible and something NHL team would over look.
