So by my count we traded away a total of 22 draft picks 9and yes i know there is future shuffling will change that) so we had better be good the rest of the year.

What can you tell us about the Pair of Kids we got for him ? Savoie has been injured a lot this year but he’s very skilled and loves to shoot the puck. McCluskey has produced very well in limited minutes. Both players have a strong compete level and should be solid top 6 adds. Savoie really didn’t make sense in a 4th/3rd line role and McCluskey got pushed out. I’d say these are two players that have potential to break out and be in a similar situation to stairs next year. I like the production of McCluskey. Could be a nice project over the next year or so under a new coach.

Willy Palov @willypalov · 3m Cam Russell: "The benefit of keeping the leadership group together for this year and the long run made more sense." Mooseheads hang on to captain Elliot Desnoyers, stand pat at QMJHL trade deadline | SaltWire I'm very happy he is staying in Halifax since we weren't able to close a deal for him. It's great news for SJ he is not on another contender. But I'm not sure how Cam spins that part about keeping leadership group together will benefit them. And I would like some media type to call them out for proof on that. This is a team that has changed coaches more times than any Q team since 2015. So is this sending a message of value to the core guys in Halifax.

Yes. trade period is over I feel like the sea dogs failed by not getting him my feelings of this deadline are bittersweet SJ did an overhaul that was badly needed. And the #1 trade chip on the market has absolutely zero chance of haunting them at any point meaning the divisions biggest market is stuck with the biggest expiring asset in the league. Thats a home run to me. Unless you dont like what SJ did otherwise.

Here's a possible lineup based on where we are:
Ansons - Lawrence - Dufour Daoust - Francis - Lessard Burns - Reynolds - Trenholm Picard - MacDonald - Bezeau Chantler Blagden
Poirier - Kuznetsov Sevigny - Villeneuve Drapeau - Desroches Despont
Hurtubise Patenaude (injured) Couture

Why would you not say "nope, call all you like but he's going nowhere" vs let the speculation hang for weeks? Because this was the last thing he expected. I think Russell had a lot of good deals and he kept waiting for a great deal that never came. He overplayed his hand, at some point you have to take a good deal and run. Halifax is in a good spot in the standings but with SJ Cha and Bat buying big their odds of going far are pretty slim.

I was mentally and emotionally prepared to see that trade made official today. But given the other moves that were made and seeing as how Desnoyers didn't go to another contender, I'm feeling a lot better about things.

In 1 lack of a move he completely negated bending Moncton over for Groulx and McIsaac. He should have been preparing for 18 months to move Desnoyers. Its mind blowing it played out like this.

Yeah, I was more trying to balance the shots, but it makes more sense for one of Lessard/Francis to play LW on that line. By the same token, MacDonald and Reynolds could be on the 3rd line together with Trenholm on the 4th.

Maybe I’m delusional but we will see. I think if you were to add Desnoyers to the new group he puts them relatively close Atleast. This team will struggle with Dufour and Burns being relied on to be the only goal scorers. Dufour-Lawrence-Ansons Francis-Daoust-Burns Lessard-MacDonald-Reynolds Bezeau-Trenholm-Chantler Picard-Crete-Blagdon
