I would say 2/3 of that group are gone by Monday. Richards is a guy that should be part of the defense picture until the end. Boucher also might be. Anybody know when the CEGEP deadline is this year?

You'll see a much better lineup in Dieppe tomorrow night. FWIW, Saint John's will likely be better too. SJ iced all of their 16s outside of Pettipas and all of the 17 year-old picks outside of Lalancette (I'm not 100% sure if he is NCAA and has left or just wasn't dressed). We also have Mirko Fernandez, Elliot Lahaie and Patrick Charette in camp (who are 17 year-old invites), but the rest of our camp is our Euros and older kids.

I heard from a good source that he is open to staying, what that means for the WC is the question. I assume there would be an expectation on ice time or other opportunities if he were to stay which could be hard for the wildcats to promise with their returning players and adding another potential NCAA holdout in Smith. I guess it will come down to what the wildcats think he could become. It would be great to see the wildcats come out of the draft with 3 high profile kids on the team (Fortier-Gendron, Smith and Cornforth) after they’ve been spurned by a few kids in last few years.

Is SJ having a separate rookie camp before having the veterans come in? Today could be ugly if SJ dresses some veterans and the wildcats just dress the rest of their rookie camp.

We have rookies, but guys like Simek and Mateiko are here, as well as some older rookies like Tivey and Reinhart (SJ may be a *tiny* bit above the camp limit which is preventing them from officially adding all of the players here)

If guaranteeing him top 9 minutes means Pavan and/or Daniel get moved, count me in.

Yeah, I think Moncton has about 8 forwards now that are pretty much guaranteed to be top 9 at this stage and then Daniel and Pavan who could fill that extra spot. Then you have young guys like Lounsbury and Smith (assuming he has committed) that are pretty much guaranteed spots too. Should be interesting when the veterans come how it shakes out. Competition is a good thing to have.

For those worried about Gabe Smith’s commitment to the QMJHL and the Wildcats, he’s in the lineup for tonight’s game.
