Will a new coach succeed in less than a month where Dwyer has apparently failed this postseason?

Was Dwyer to blame for the entire team getting sick during the playoffs? Serious question, not rhetorical. It seems unlikely since they weren't the first team it happened to and won't be the last and I don't recall a coach ever being held accountable before but who knows? Otherwise I don't understand this move at all. Was kind of indifferent towards Dwyer. Didn't think he was great nor terrible but this just seems like an odd time for a coaching change. I assume they must have a major upgrade lined up already, even if it's only for the Memorial Cup.

The only difference was he was both Head Coach and GM. |

And also it’s a little curious the announcement comes on Sunday afternoon on a holiday weekend. The tournament is just weeks away. If they could have kept a lid on the news until Tuesday they could have had a flashy press conference to start to drum up some momentum for next month.

I've seen a couple comments along the same thing - why wait so long after getting eliminated. The only thing that I can surmise is that they didn't want to let him go the very next day and have no fallback plan. The team was also given a week off to recuperate to 100% and was just returning back this weekend ... so it's not like they were out having regular practices. Will be interesting to see who they bring in. Could they stay (semi) in-house and have Paul Boutilier run the bench? He's certainly familiar with the team from working with them this season. |

Can’t see Gardiner leaving UNB to go through a rebuild in the Q starting next season |

One x-factor about Gardiner is that he has a lot of experience coaching these short tournaments.
