Terrible game by Laaouan.
Two goals at his expense and one goal at the expense of my favorite Islander, Budgell.

The Islanders might have 36 shots but 12 of those were dangerous shots. Cataractes have 13 dangerous shots on 21 total. Shawinigan has been better at creating chances. One huge issue I saw was having 5 guys watch the puck while Sha players would sneak into the slot uncovered. The Bourque goal and Menard goals were perfect examples. Not sure what Laouaan was on last night but it was ugly, the 2nd Bourgault goal he left his lane to chase Cormier's guy and leave Bourgault by himself, plus obviously the own goal in OT. The big D on Sha seem to be neutralizing a chunk of Cha's offense.

At the end of the day we haven't been good enough. Shit the bed in game one. They had that bad call in game two, but they still didn't really come out with intensity, they just played a little bit better. And game three down 2-0, you have to dominate that game no matter what.
We've played mediocre in this series and we still easily could be up 2-1 right now.
It's the most frustrating part. It's almost as if after the handshakes with Sherbrooke they were just like "screw it, good enough".
If they all put in the effort Gallant puts in every shift, it would be 3-0 for us right now.
Silver lining, IF we win, we win the Cup at home.

I'm pretty sure Laaouaan knows he had a terrible night last night the fact so many of our own fans are so quick to turn on one of the best players we've had is frankly quite sickening. It's one thing to say it was a bad game, a bad play even he cost us a goal directly there.... but when certain fans question whether he cares or is trying or call him a moron (all things our own fans posted on the thread you guys are shitting on Shawinigan fans for) that's way too far.
The end of the day this is just a game.... we are fans.... try to seperate the two or put the keyboards away for a night.

The game was decided in OT on a mistake. But it wasn't really lost in OT on that mistake.
Just like game 2 they didn't create a margin to cover the inevitably of an error, or a bad call.
Used to be playoffs were more buttoned down dot your "i's" cross your "t's" and mind your "q's". Everyone knows this and coaches say to play the right way. If Charlottetown were doing this the games would be very different.
I turn on the TV and see NHL games 8-6 and 9-6 and this game is just total whack this year. And some teams that can benefit from that lack of structure but other teams (like Islanders) are better sticking to the tried and true. Players are trying to take shortcuts and getting away from discipline needed to be consistent. These OTs in playoffs for Charlottetown all ended pretty quick.
The consistent team will win in the end.

Noah has been one of our best players since acquiring him and to question how much he cares or his effort for this team is ridiculous. I highly doubt anyone is madder than he is at himself right now. Posters turning vicious on a 20/21 yr old that made a mistake, that could have happened to anyone, is appalling.

Laaouan was probably the best overall Dman in the league this season.....but last night was far from a good game.
End it at there.
Guay was also quiet this series, until last night.

Keyboard warriors shooting off their lips as usual. Worst ones probably can’t skate. It’s a tall order, but I think we’re the better team. Defensive Break downs and Leaving their top 3 open in the slot is the game changer. Making it easy for them. They’re nervous, no doubt. I think we win tonight.

I have been a long time follower of this board, first time poster. I have followed the team since the Rocket days.
It was a really unfortunate end to the game last night and I’m sure if Laaouan wanted to crawl into a hole in the ice if he could after the play. Having said that, as a couple others have said, let’s perhaps let up on shaming a 21 year old. Presumably most posters here are grown adults so GROW UP. It’s saddening how quickly fans turn on the team and specific players when mistakes are made.
Bottom line is the Islanders have proven they can certainly play with Shawinigan but they absolutely have not found an answer to their top guns. Many goals they have scored are absolute snipes from close range too so let’s not leave Frankie out to dry either.
Here’s hoping to a solid effort tonight!!

The game wasn’t lost one one play last night. Atleast 2 of the goals, we had 3 guys puck watching one guy…a 1 on 3 and they score.
If we’re going to win games, they’re going be 3-2, 2-1, etc. We cant get into a scoring match with a team that has a couple of elite snipers.
Let’s show everyone what Islander hockey is, and bring this thing one game back at a time. Not over yet!

Could as easily by 2-1 either way...so its not like that feeling of a rebuilding team who might not be able to come up with a better effort against a top team.
Couple saves and a bounce or 2 and its 3-2 going back there with all the pressure now on them.
Win tonight and it doesnt matter what order the 4 games were decided in...id be optimistic that at some point something has to go your way and hopefully change the momentum a bit.

I figured with Hulton and taht defense group that Sha would have to work much harder for real estate in the slot.

Our defensive game has been our pillar all year, and now it’s the area costing us the most. Hopefully we can tighten up here tonight.
