First game is tonight! Really excited for this. Honestly the whole team behind the memorial cup have done really well for the first few days. Let's hope the weather holds this week and the team plays well.

I’m more than disappointed that I’m not getting geared up for the Islanders playing tomorrow night to represent the QMJHL…..
But it is exciting to see two Q teams ready to represent the league this week in the Memorial Cup. It must be very exciting for Sea Dogs fans to finally see their team back on ice tonight after such a lengthy layoff.
Best of luck!!

I hope the event is a huge success but I also hope the Sea Dogs don’t win it all. If you win the Memorial Cup but didn’t win your league, it’s a cheapened “title”.
The playoffs are what matters. You earn 16 wins (not this season) to call yourself the Champs and play for a Memorial Cup in a tournament format where the best team doesn’t always win.

Best of luck to Sea Dogs fans and everyone at the Memorial Cup. It should be a fantastic week of hockey.
*Insert "I think the Dogs will win this one" joke here*
Sea Dogs take this one 4-2.

Love that the games start at 7 local time and are not moved for TV. Good luck SJ. Enjoy the week, fans. Lots of great entertainment lined up.

Saturday night with the Strumbellas was a good success. Lots of people having a good time, the container village and sectioned off streets were busy. I'd love the Sea Dogs to win the cup but honestly just excited to have hockey back! I think Edmonton is probably the favourites.

Just saw this regarding some rule changes. This point system could somewhat reduce the likelihood of there being a tie-breaker game:
The Canadian Hockey League announced today rule modifications ahead of the 2022 Memorial Cup held June 20-29 in Saint John, N.B.
The modifications include a new point system for the six-game round robin whereby teams will receive three points for a regulation win, two points for an overtime win, and one point for an overtime loss.
Additionally, overtime in the round robin will be played in a 3-on-3 format in 20-minute periods until a winner is decided. Intermissions between the third period and overtime and each additional overtime period will be 15 minutes. There will be no TV timeouts during overtime although a quick scrape of the front of nets and benches will be done at the first stoppage after the 10-minute mark should the overtime continue.

Great, lets bring this into the regular season next year so I never have to watch a shootout again

I like the OT rules. Lessens the chances of multiple OTs during round robin games, which are absolutely unnecessary. Also don't want key games decided by shootout, which this avoids as well.
Hopefully this tournament avoids the 2019 tie-breaker scenario where Halifax got a bye to the final by being down 4-3 and not trying to score on purpose.

Because it's not like 3 on 3 overtime is going to be conservative like it is now. Very rarely will we see games go past 10 minutes. The first few shootouts were fun, but it got old fast and brings a good game to a very slow and dull conclusion.

Can't say I entirely disagree because I certainly felt that way when Shawinigan won in 2012. Having said that, it is the nature and setup of the tournament, so congrats to whichever team wins. Tonight's game should really determine if Saint John even has a shot.
