Lawrence to cape Breton Drapeau to val'dor Courture to rouyn Noranda And one I heard last night Reynolds to Moncton Thoughts on returns. My thought are that someone in SJ really loved Trenholm.

Here's who remains from the Mem Cup roster after today's moves (not actual lines, just easier to read that way): Forwards: Burns - MacDonald - Reynolds Bezeau - Trenholm - Lessard LaForge Defence: Desroches - Despont Gartley - Welsh Goalies: Hurtubise - Patenaude Taking out the extra 20s, right now we'd have something like: Trenholm - MacDonald - OA Burbidge - Reynolds - Simek/Elie Foston - Laforge - Campbell Mateiko - Simard - Elie/Simek Akkouche Cosman - Desroches Bilodeau - Despont Gartley - Welsh Dickie OA Brideau

Not sure what contending teams have room for a 20 year old goalie next season but we won't be keeping both Patenaude and Hurtubise. Hurtubise would get a lot more in a trade having won championships in each of the last 2 seasons with 2 different teams.

Tim08 how long are you going to whine posting how the team got fleeced. This is what happens when a team loads up AND WINS A MEMORIAL CUP.

I'm not whining I know what it takes I've been a season ticket holder since the beginning I have seen thelows and highs. I know that we had to pay a premium for the players tg wanted. I just can't comprehend that Lessard who on our team was never going to be a top six forward cost a first as well as Drapeau who should have got at least 2 high picks on his own. Last post on the subject.

Last post on the subject. Long story short…just a bad trade. Overvalued Lessard(a legit first round talent) and paid top dollar for TG’s valuation for a healthy Lessard, which of course he wasn’t(healthy) because it’s…Lessard, and he never stays healthy

The bottom line is that this team, since its' inception has really delivered Championships. Three President Cups and two Memorial Cups in their 17 year history as a franchise is quite remarkable and matched only by a few junior teams across this country. They are certainly worthy of support by Saint John hockey fans When you look at how many teams with a storied history that have never won a Memorial Cup, the Sea Dog success has been quite remarkable.

I still think back to the Beaulieu team in the early years that traded down vs trying to force a team that had higher pre-season apirations to be successful. Kind of signaled to the rest of the league that the organization was looking to achieve great things and that is usually only done with smart managing and great drafting. If those early teams load up and fail...the 2011 team may have never came together like it did.

Tim08 how long are you going to whine posting how the team got fleeced. This is what happens when a team loads up AND WINS A MEMORIAL CUP. No, it isn't. We got completely fleeced on that trade. I often disagree with posts tim08 makes but I agree with this one. Yes a team overpays when they go all in. Especially a Memorial Cup host. TG paid not only the overpayment, but then threw in an overpayment on the overpayment, and locked his family into one of those Japanese mortgage that it takes 3 generations of family to pay off. I have nothing against Lessard either. He's a good player. He just cannot stay healthy. He never has in any year. Thats why I thought the trade sucked even when it was just draft picks. We could have got a player of similar talent and no history or chronic injury for that price. Now we find out Drapeau goes as a future, and we only get the 6th and 10th round picks back? Our best young prospect? Ignore what we might have been able to get for Drapeau trading him on his own right now. We could have at the very least got a better player with no history of injury than Lessard for what we gave up. That TG overpaid that much only makes me a little angry though. The fact that he overpaid that much for a player you could pretty much guarantee was going to get injured at some point while with us is what really grinds the gears. Yes they won the Memorial Cup. Yes you overpay when you try to do so, especially as hosts. That doesn't mean though that you go out and purchase anything you can get your hands on at whatever price it takes. You still shop intelligently and buy the best product available at the lowest price you can find. This was like....buying a 19 year old Lexus that has gone through 5 engine rebuilds already and paying fresh off the assembly line brand new price for it.
