Lapenna or Satny have any pro camp options this year?
I doubt very much they go with 3 goalies once all players are settled in

It is but there does seem to be some head scratchers on that. First only because I read on here not following through Charlottetown own website or the paper but I thought Dawson Stairs was cut. With Dawson they have 5 20yos. Also there’s no way this Mossey kids is wearing 99 right? No idea about Mossey. Mossey has no interest in CHL hockey.

Hearing rumours that Ben Boyd is opted to play AUS hockey and not returning to the Islanders? anyone else hearing that? I’ve seen that as well… don’t know how credible it is though. Seems like a really weird move for an NHL drafted 19 year old but who really knows what the reasoning is if it is true.

A large part of his game is hitting/fighting, which fighting is nonexistent in AUS. Not sure how that would be a smart idea if he plans on playing pro hockey soon, but maybe he doesn’t.

16 fwds listed
Remove Boyd who is playing AUS Remove stairs who won’t be back
That’s 14. So presumably one would have to go? Unless they go with 14 which I would support in a rebuild

Perhaps Columbus wanted him playing against older and bigger/stronger players.... Can that even happen? Or he and/or his advisors are taking a realistic stance on his future prospects as a pro. His chances of making the show are still very slim, and if he did he'd likely be a... for lack of a better term, "goon" in an era where that style of player is dead. Maybe he thinks his best prospect out of competitive hockey is getting an education and hitting the workforce in his early 20's. I don't know anything about Boyd as a person or his family, but that's not a scenario that's very farfetched. Assuming the rumors are true, anyway.

Definitely a possible scenario where he wants to just focus on school…but why not get another 2 years of free education before you go?

Unless he had a really sweet scholarship on the table right now, idk. I mean physically Boyd could certainly play against men. But yea idk. A rumor is a rumor

I guess the thing to watch will be if Boyd is participating with the Blue Jackets at the Traverse City tournament later this week.
If he's not there, it will look like there could be something to this talk and that he's going a different direction with education and hockey. But if he's at Blue Jackets camp then I'd expect we see him playing major junior hockey this coming season with us.

I can't imagine there'd be a sweet scholarship offer to him as a 19 y/o player. If we are talking about the AUS, he's likely to hardly even play as a 19 y/o player. Outside the region in a weaker conference.....maybe there is more opportunity? A rumor is a rumor He wouldn’t be the first kid to be NHL drafted who just decided he didn’t want to pursue a pro career anymore. Some guys just don’t love it, I wouldn’t be surprised if he wants to do the school thing and realizes he probably isn’t an NHL player or getting a entry level contract.
