I wonder if this is a pre-cursor to more moves or simply opening up room for some younger players/call-ups Maybe they acquire Connor Trenholm. The problem I have with that is, it will cost big, likely one of their 1st rounders, and you're not getting an impact player, just a more skilled version of Daniel. WC have a lot of hard working mid lineup guys, what they lack is impact skill. Save the picks and draft for skill. |

Leighton Carruthers is another name I could see in Moncton That makes more sense, he is 18, would add size and edge and should not cost the farm. |

I tend to agree here, unless they are bringing in an impact 18-19 year old scorer hold the fort and see what the younger guys play can do with some extra ice in the 2nd half. They can evaluate things at the end of the season and use picks & assets to make necessary moves at the draft. Carruthers was a top 5 overall pick. He hasn't really taken off in Saint John or RN. His draft position probably still has him over valued despite his output to date. RN gave up a lot for him a year ago and unless they want to cut their losses and move on for a mid round pick and a prospect I don't see the point/value. |

Not a fan of that trade, Trenholm is hard working guy, a Roger Shannon type player, but he doesn't add impact skill to a team that desperately needs it. Having Daniel Plandowski and Trenholm as OA's next year is pretty underwhelming if you want to contend. None are 1st line or 1st pair guys. They basically traded a 1st for a guy that will be a 3rd liner if they build a contender next year.

There is a condition on the 2025 pick. Anyone know what it is? Standard "if he plays as a 20yr old?"??
