Marty Kingston is awful Does he do any research on the opposition at all? Probably not, big downgrade from Tim. Wish they'd have him doing PA instead of JR who can't pronounce half the names on visiting teams and fumbles through penalty calls. Marty on PA and Tim on pbp would be the best combo, but I ultimately don't care much about who does our pbp since I listen to the home feed on road games most of the time. Cory & George being 2 of the best.

Kale McCallum has left Val d'Or.
He had asked for a trade and did not get one. Going to play university hockey instead.
Will help our draft pick.

looking back at the TDL deals, I think we have seen enough to make a decent judgment on the additions and substructions:
Iasenza trade...he is playing ok in Victo but the team has slipped from 1st overall and the return was probably too good to pass up.
Darcy trade...return was decent at the time, seems to be playing well with PP time in Quebec.
Plandowski trade...he has been solid for the WC, still a bit of a head scratcher that they moved out Darcy to play the young guys...then go get OP who then makes Grenier a scratch on many nights...
Pavan trade...becomes nothing after he quit to play Jr.A
Trenholm trade...I don't hate the player, but as I said 2 months ago, not an impact guy, gives you what Daniel already brings. Why trade two 2nds for a 19 year old when you are 9th or 10th overall, a guy who will be a below average OA? Why not wait and get a similar player cheap in August/Sept(see Huard trade for Halifax) and wat for midseason to take a big swing if you're a contender.
With Labelle Barbashev and Beaudoin moving on they leave a big hole offensively.

The Wildcats have to address those three leaving and find impact OA's in the off season to complement the youth. Labelle/Beaudoin/Barbashev's offence will not be replaced by Daniel/Trenholm as OA's next year. It is fair to say the progression of guys like Smith, Lounsbury, Mercier, Grenier and others will fill some of that void but the team needs to find next years Kalmikov or Beaudoin.

I would not rule out the possibility of one or more of Daniel/Trenholm/Plandowski taking a big step forward offensively next season - opportunity to earn a bigger role with Labelle/Beaudoin/Barbashev graduating, plus natural progression of them continuing to get physically stronger - all three are character guys who will put in the work.

They could have had that without giving up big value this year, as with the Huard example, grab a kid who was lower in the lineup and give him more minutes. Trading for 19 year olds in non contending years seems like this team's kryptonite.
