Any rumors out there ? What teams will be looking to load up ? Sherbrooke and Quebec look pretty good, we had a nice win against the mooseheads the other night . What would we need to win a few rounds ?

What would we need to win a few rounds ? Way too much. It's a strong possibility a 2nd round match-up would be against Quebec who will be going all in. I think they buy small to win a round and hopefully get home ice round 1. No need to do anything crazy from one comeback win. Anyone they aquire should be here for this year and next though. The team is thin on 20's for next year. Highly possible they'd even stand pat also which would be fine.

Just read an article in l'Acadie-Nouvelle.
Ritchie Thibeau says he won't be moving their two 1sts in 2023 and their 1st in 2024. Possibly even the same for their 2nd round picks.
In order to acquire to help the team this season and next, he's willing to move young prospects like MacPhee, Deslauriers, Legare and Sampson.

While the above makes sense, it could also be posturing in the media to put pressure on the sellers to drop their asking prices. Take anything you read with a grain of salt - and don’t be totally shocked to read Ritchie saying in four weeks time that they had to move one or more high picks once player X became available. As for being willing to trade prospects - I can’t imagine any of the names above returning much of substance …

A few years back they tried to take shortcuts by adding Anderson and Sylvestre at a high cost and it blew up spectacularly.

I could see guys like Beaudoin and Labelle potentially being made available to push things back a little. Moncton's D looks like they could be absolutely phenomenal in a couple of years. A D of Morin, Fortier-Gendron and Grenier is a great start.

Making the playoffs and giving a team a good series is good experience, just not at the expense of prime assets. At this level 1st and 2nd round picks are very valuable...look at guys like Dumais(18th) Pellerin(12) Melanson(15) Boplduc(14) Langlois(17) Hinds(30) Lawrence(15) Desnoyers(18) Spence(20) Bourgault(33) Tourigny(20) were all impact players taken late 1st or 2nd round pick.

With Ritchie's experience being so much from a scouting perspective it makes a lot of sense he would want to keep his high draft picks. I like the cautious approach they've taken the last few seasons. They've been able to add quality to the team through free agents (Steinman, Marcil, Labelle), and complimenting the top 6 using 3rd rounders for guys like Kalmikov & Beaudoin. It makes a lot of sense to wait and see what happens with Halifax this year, them going all in gives them some interesting decisions to make next year if they want to buy more aggressively, but you can reassess that at draft time next year. There's only so many roster spots available next year, the entire D will be returning other than Hamel. Going forward I'd like to see Mercier on the top 6 every game. So much wasted potential having him on the 4th line with Pavan & Smith. Not a knock on Smith but its gonna take him some time before he starts putting up offense.

I don't think Halifax goes all in this year, but they are already a fair bit ahead before adding Lawrence. The Cats can tinker this year, be aggressive next year then load up in 2 years. Adding 2 1st rounders this year which should both be top 10-12 overall they could get premium guys. If you hit it right, Those players could be top 6 F or top 4 D in 24-25 like Hal with Cataford(6) and Dumais(18) in 2020 and 2021. In 2 years they can have Auger Loshing and Iasenza or Filion as OA with a strong cast.
