Going forward I'd like to see Mercier on the top 6 every game. So much wasted potential having him on the 4th line with Pavan & Smith. Not a knock on Smith but its gonna take him some time before he starts putting up offense. Bump. Are you trying to take credit for Mercier scoring the winner, or draw attention to the fact that Smith has 3 points in his last 4 games

Teasing aside, the young guys have stepped up lately ... Mercier has 7 points in his last 8 games, and Lounsbury has 7 points in 6 games in December.

I have no idea why they keep putting Bishop up there. The only thing I can possibly think of is they are trying to develop some chemistry between Mercier and Smith. Agree though on the other young guys, Lounsbury is going to be a great 2 way guy in this league and Smith is playing his best hockey the last few games, hopefully his goal is giving him some confidence. He's been struggling with his shot all season, but these guys who are so tall at 16 are often abit slower to come along.

JF Plante reporting Iasenza will be dealt to Victo. Iasenza will be a top D at 19 & 20...I guess it was an offer too good to be true? 1st plus other picks...

Solid value though for a guy who was a former 3rd rounder, a 1st + other picks is pretty decent. Monctons blue line likely building around Gendron/Grenier. But is their target year 2 years from now? Iasenza could’ve been a solid OA during a run. But then again you could also use those multiple assets to fill other needs during that time.

And Morin They have too many D and he probably had the best value. For 18 year olds they have Loshing, Auger and likely one of the 2 goalies as 20s in 2 years. On top of that they have Marcil and Mueller who will both be guys who can play at 20. So I guess it makes sense if you can grab a 1st round pick plus more. When was the last time the Cats had 3 1sts?? Whenever Grenier returns he needs to play lots. I think Iasenza is a a solid offensive defenceman who skates well but he's not without his flaws. He often loses his man and gets caught out of position. He played his best game of the season tonight.

Reminds me of when Halifax shipped Taylor Ford of to Rouyn, not a trade anyone expected to happen, but if a team is willing to pay for a guy they really want, then you pull the trigger, especially if you're building toward another year.

I’m surprised they are moving 2 veteran Dmen. With the way Lounsbury and Mercier have played recently I can see them moving a forward or 2 as well

Right I forgot to mention the obvious best D on the team LOL But yeah it does make some sense and the value they got for him is reallyyyy good and can definitely be used to upgrade other areas. Moving guys they don’t see as part of the future and give the younger guys even more playing time and development. This team is gonna be scary in a couple years.

Darcy to the Remparts for a 4th round pick. They must have another Dman coming in because I don’t know why you would move him for that little of a return.

He was an 8th round pick. He’s 19. Chances are he wasn’t going to play as a 20. You have to make room for Ballentyne and Grenier.
