I don't think it really matters, this has been a long rebuild , this year or next year we should have been at the top and it doesn't look like next year either. I know some people like the go all in (which we did ) and look where it left us, with nothing to show for it all. I get the that cycle happens but its time and we have a star defenceman to build around. We had some first round picks this year and I'm surprised we didn't make a move.
I still believe that Moncton should have only traded for B-O Groulx and MacIssac and kept Lavalle and not have traded for Fortier. I'm not just saying that in hindsight.
When will Moncton go after a New GM and Coach that can build us a great team , why didn't we go after Mario Pouliot ?

You didn’t know that Ritchie was supposed to predict that happening?

Sherbrooke was in the same cycle as we were that year , and look where they are now, one of the best teams in the Q So was Cape Breton and Chicoutimi. Rebuilds in junior hockey aren’t an exact guaranteed science. There are many factors.

Val d'Or finishes 17th overall giving Moncton the 2nd best odds going into the draft lottery.
Best case scenario - 1st overall Worst case scenario - 4th overall
Looking at the rest of the 1st round - Moncton's own 1st will be 13th overall and Sherbrooke's 1st will be 18th overall.
If you look at the standings and immediately want to challenge those numbers, keep in mind Chicoutimi will automatically have 12th & 16th overall as compensation picks from selecting Sacha Boisvert and Xavier Veilleux in the 1st round of the 2022 Draft.

What does the top of the draft look like as far as as rated players? Is there a consensus #1? A 1A and 1B? Top 3? Top 4 and pick who you like best?

How does the Q lottery work and what are the odds? Do they draw the top 2 spots? The last two times the WC have had lottery picks they got 3rd with L'heureux and Pelletier in 2019 and 2017. There will be 21 balls in the lottery. Chicoutimi - 9 Moncton - 6 Blainville - 3 Val dOr - 2 Rimouski - 1 If a Chicoutimi ball isn't picked 1st or 2nd, they will automatically get the 3rd pick. If a Moncton ball isn't picked 1st, 2nd or 3rd, they will automatically get the 4th pick.

I haven't seen a rankings list without Caleb Desnoyers (Elliot's brother) as the top prospect. He seems to be the consensus. My top 4 is as follows: 1: Caleb Desnoyers - Forward 2: Alex Huang - Defense 3: Nathan Lecompte - Forward 4: Emile Guité - Forward

Exciting times, haven’t been this excited for the team since we iced that great team the COVID year that never got to play a game in the playoffs.

I haven't seen any QC U18 this season, but from looking at players and team stats, I'm curious what the knock on Lecompte is (if any). He seems to have single-handedly carried Châteauguay offensively with 60 points during the regular season, despite his highest-scoring teammates only having 33 and 30 points.
Desnoyers and Guité are teammates on a much better Saint-Hyacinthe team, they had 53 and 48 respectively with more balanced scoring throughout the lineup.

I have not seen either play, but Desnoyers is much bigger, he is 2-3 inches taller than his brother at 15, plus the edge(PIMs).

He will be a game breaker in the Q. Desnoyers is just more of a complete player.
