New to the form. Does the team have allot of returning players? It looks like the team has a solid group on D. Is the teams goaltender going to steal you some wins? Yes, the team has a lot of returning players. The D is better than what we would have expected this soon after a rebuild. I don't know about the goalie stealing us wins, given that we have Brideau (second year) and an open spot.

If they want to fill the draft picks then Bilodeau and Elie are probably the next to leave. We are only filling the draft picks in situations where the players bring back bigtime picks. If someone offered a 1st or equivalent for Elie, we would likely trade him, but simply making him available would be selling low after his first year. Bilodeau is a D where he is likely worth far more to us than to anyone else.

Saint John Sea DogsYes I have been watching the Q for years. It looks like the team has a group of veterans on D which should help the younger group upfront

Mixed. I'm not thrilled that he got traded, but given that he was traded I'm very pleased with the return. While this 2005 core wouldn't peak as high as our other cycles have, I thought we had a pretty solid group along with a few decent older players. Was looking forward to seeing them progress with him being one of the main pieces. I'm kind of tired of the extreme cyclical approach this team has taken. I was fine with it for a while but thought/hoped that now that we've hosted the Memorial Cup and won it, that maybe it was time to move on from that approach. It will always be cyclical to some extent but it doesn't have to be as extreme. Also if we were going to trade him, I'd have preferred to have done so at the draft for a trade of similar value with at least one pick being in 2023. Are Bilodeau and others for sale now too I wonder? Or was this simply a matter of receiving an offer too good to turn down. Isn’t the goal to win a championship? Haven’t you enjoyed the championships we’ve witnessed? You’re tired of this? Not me. I did enjoy the championships and will enjoy any future championships regardless of what approach is used. That is why I said I was fine with this approach for a while. But yes I personally would prefer to move on and try something different. It isn't an absolute must but it is a personal preference. We've gone through it a couple of times now over the past 11 seasons. We've also won championships without quite using this exact formula. In fact our most successful run used a different method. Not necessarily by choice but due to circumstances of being a start-up franchise things just played out a bit differently.

In the interim, I want to see a team that hustles and works hard every game, regardless of the outcome, as the team builds towards their next run. I’m not sure how many others feel that way?

If you went say 10-15 years without seeing a league final and kept following the same method i'd say people would get frustrated. The "feast and famine" model only works with fans when the peak years return great playoff runs and memories. I think every fan of a CHL team would accept a cycle of 2 down years, 1 good year, 1 great year, 1 reset the table year if you broke it down into a 5 year plan. The issue becomes when you're a fan of a team and don't necessarily even get a good year in that 5 let alone a great year. Everyone wants to win. But constant losing changes the perspective really quick.

For the most part, people can handle two bad years followed by two or 3 good years and hopefully, a Championship or an excellent deep playoff run mixed in.
Since the 2017 Championship and of course Covid they have not been very good other than the 2nd half of 21 - 22 season and the Memorial cup week.

When will they post the players coming to camp? Does camp start this weekend? Are you expecting any big surprises?

This was a joke because SJ is usually the last to announce. I have no idea when SJ will announce and it will be much harder to notice it when they do given that the filters that I was using to see their tweets have died.

Ok thanks I am looking to go down and watch some of the ice times if I have time. I assume someone goes and watches and gives us a little Inside who is looking good and has a chance to make the team. For a look at the training camp rosters, prospects and depth charts: SJSD training camp roster and prospectsAll QMJHL rosters and top prospect info is available. Updates are made as they become available. Of the list on the Q site, Aziz was announced and is missing. The guys I don't expect are: Cournoyer, Daley (48 hours?), El Hawat, Monteiro, Patella, Rose, Svechkov, Biakabutuka, Felicio, Lalancette, Pettipas, Poirier (48 hours?), Shingarov, Doyon-Cataquiz (48 hours?) and maybe Girard

Fully expect him back. AFAIK, the rumors of him leaving aren't based on anything. A good year this year and Peter could score himself a pro deal.
