According to JF Plante Gatineau still owes PEI picks from Franky Will find out tomorrow but as always take the word of the twitter geniuses with a grain of salt Not even sure really why everyone goes on social media with all these rumours and leaks makes the actual trade period a bit anti climactic i mean its only a day or so away

The reality is that most of the deals that will be announced today are either ones that were put together and "leaked" weeks or months ago or futures on deals that have been speculated on since Christmas. Most of the deals that will be announced today have been on the Internet in some way, shape, or form for months.
There is more of the element of surprise at play in deals made on Saturday on the draft floor. Maybe that's where you actually see something out of left field that nobody saw coming.
For us, if you believe the talk, there's a 1st coming our way. The best evidence is that it's coming our way via Sherbrooke to finish off the Jakub Brabenec deal... but they don't have a 1st, so they'll be selling off some of their older core and acquiring this speculated 1st. Then there's some chatter that Gatineau sends something our way as a finish up on the Lapenna deal. Gatineau is pretty slim on picks, so there will need to be some other pieces in motion if there's anything to this talk.

Funny how Hulton has came right out and said we’re owed a first round pick for Brabs, but hasn’t said anything on Lapenna…is it because there’s nothing else coming, or just trying to hype up the first round pick?

I'd say it is likely the difference between gaining a first for non-firsts and gaining a future year pick that may or may not be actually used.

Or whatever is coming is being flipped and ends up being quality over quantity so you emphasize some of the other quality you're bringing in that you don't plan on moving down from. There's a dozen reasons why a GM would be vocal about 1 deal and quiet on another.

Gatineau just got a first....... As much as I would like it to be, I really can’t see us getting a first as the market for Lapenna was pretty small. Gatineau has just picked up a third and a fourth, either of which could be headed our way possibly
