Made it home safely from attending the draft in Sherbrooke. Here is my recap: Caleb Desnoyers - The consensus top prospect on mostly all rankings. He's a complete, 200 feet player. The ultimate teammate and a coach's dream. He will be an important part of the team as early as next season. Shawn Carrier - Love the player. Brings it every shift. First on the puck and creates turnovers with his forecheck. Just want to point out he won the scoring title in his 2nd year of Bantam AAA. Finished with 63 points. 16 more Desnoyers and 2nd overall pick, Emile Guite. I'm not concerned with the price ( 13th overall and a 2024 1st) paid to move up to 6th. Much cheaper than what Blainville paid to move up to 7th ( 17th overall, 22nd overall, 37th overall and a 2024 1st). Easton Schlender - Strong skater who plays hard and tough in the dirty areas of the ice. Should be a high pick in the MHL Draft and playing Junior A at 16 will expedite his development. Ben Lindsay - Big, strong and sturdy efenseman who improved tremendously from the start to the end of the season. Seemed to play with more of an edge towards the latter part of the year. Easily outmuscled most forwards along the boards and in front of the net. Kayden McGuigan - I like his upside. I think he's got potential to be a power forward at the junior level. He can get a shot off through traffic and on the rush. Someone who will go the net looking for rebounds and won't mind taking a beating if it means creating a scoring chance. Tristan Langlois - The tallent player selected at 6'5". Size is easily noticeable on the ice. He's a project type defenseman. Played Midget Espoir last season and should be able to play AAA next season. I see him as more of a two-play guy than a physical, shutdown defenseman. Guys like Anthony Roy, Luke Sinclair and Drew Keiver could end up great finds in the later rounds. Roy will move on to Midget AAA while the two Maritimers will be playing in the US next season. I know I missed a few picks. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll reach out to get some info. Any insight/scouting into the 2 Americans you mentioned earlier?

Shayne Gould - An elite skater. He has the foot speed to recover if a mistake is made. His agility ables him to escape pressure easily. His poise and IQ are off the charts. A high end talent. Anthony Pellitteri - Easiest way to describe him is Zach Malatesta but with a right shot. Strong, sturdy, thick, tough to play against defenseman. He's got a great jump in his stride. Deceptive and quick release. All indications is that he will be at training camp. As I mentioned in an earlier post, he wants to play for the Wildcats and has no interest in playing NCAA. Could be a surprise. One to keep an eye on. I've got nothing on Devin Niles. Let me ask around. Like Pellitteri, he intends on being at training camp. No interest in NCAA. His stats are intriguing though.

The Wildcats coverage of the draft has been pretty awful. They talked about the picks in the first round, but haven’t even put out an article or video with quotes from Thibeau or scouts about the players they picked like they usually do.
They literally just linked the Q draft page and told people to get more info from it. Pretty poor showing overall.

Quite bad in comparison to the interviews and everything they had for the virtual drafts. Maybe more to come now that everyone is back home? Either way the guys from the Wildcast Podcast were in Sherbrooke last weekend and they have an interview with Alex Gauthier dropping tomorrow. Should be worth checking out for anyone craving more information on the Cats draft.

The posted videos of the 2 guys selected in round 1 on all social medias and that's about it. They posted a video on their youtube this am of the 4th round pick, it isn't posted anywhere on social media.

Sinclair will be playing with SAC this year. Good fit competition and school-wise, better than U18 but a step under Jr. A. Best program in Canada and gives those in the US a run for their money. They'll have every university under the sun watching them, could see an NCAA commitment at 17yo, but likely not in 23/24 (Connor Arsenault to Cornell surprised me too, so a possibility).
