Starting to get crowded up front and on d really Loshing/Lounsbury/Mercier Auger/Desnoyers/Collard Trenholm/Smith/Carrier Mueller/Legare/Delauriers/Macphee/Sampson Unknowns: Barbashev, New Euro, Daniel (or Trenholm) Plandowski/Morin Boutin/AGF Grenier/Ballentyne Hackett Unknowns: Euro? I don't think McPhee and Deslauriers make the team. Hackett either, they likely draft a F and D Euro.

I'd like to hear a scouting report on Carrier. Do we think he can make the team this season? I'd imagine the scouts were quite high on him considering the cost paid to move up.

It wouldn’t be a draft without a pick or two going full circle.
8th round pick Anthony Roy is the son of Jonathan Roy.
13th round pick Benjamin Damphousse is the son of Jean-Francois Damphousse.

Langlois looks like a big kid. How’s his skating?

Langlois looks like a big kid. How’s his skating? Skating is the knock on him. Definitely a project. Patience is key. With better mobility, he could easily become a decent breakout and transition defenseman with a long reach.

Cats selected D Anthony Pelletteri and D Shayne Gould in the US draft. I can’t think of a single player that has ever reported since they started doing a separate US draft. Quebec took a guy that is 5’3” 100lbs LOL

Quebec took a guy that is 5’3” 100lbs LOL 14th round pick Devon Niles and Pelleteri were actually in attendance at the Avenir Centre for one of the home games against Halifax in the 2nd round. They got a tour of the rink. According to Ritchie Thibeau, they have no interest in playing NCAA.

Like where they would have been picked if they were Canadian / reporting? Doesn’t seem like there is much room on the roster so they’d have to beat out a bunch of guys to get a chance. Anyone else that could surprise at camp?

Made it home safely from attending the draft in Sherbrooke. Here is my recap:
Caleb Desnoyers - The consensus top prospect on mostly all rankings. He's a complete, 200 feet player. The ultimate teammate and a coach's dream. He will be an important part of the team as early as next season.
Shawn Carrier - Love the player. Brings it every shift. First on the puck and creates turnovers with his forecheck. Just want to point out he won the scoring title in his 2nd year of Bantam AAA. Finished with 63 points. 16 more Desnoyers and 2nd overall pick, Emile Guite. I'm not concerned with the price (13th overall and a 2024 1st) paid to move up to 6th. Much cheaper than what Blainville paid to move up to 7th (17th overall, 22nd overall, 37th overall and a 2024 1st).
Easton Schlender - Strong skater who plays hard and tough in the dirty areas of the ice. Should be a high pick in the MHL Draft and playing Junior A at 16 will expedite his development.
Ben Lindsay - Big, strong and sturdy efenseman who improved tremendously from the start to the end of the season. Seemed to play with more of an edge towards the latter part of the year. Easily outmuscled most forwards along the boards and in front of the net.
Kayden McGuigan - I like his upside. I think he's got potential to be a power forward at the junior level. He can get a shot off through traffic and on the rush. Someone who will go the net looking for rebounds and won't mind taking a beating if it means creating a scoring chance.
Tristan Langlois - The tallent player selected at 6'5". Size is easily noticeable on the ice. He's a project type defenseman. Played Midget Espoir last season and should be able to play AAA next season. I see him as more of a two-play guy than a physical, shutdown defenseman.
Guys like Anthony Roy, Luke Sinclair and Drew Keiver could end up great finds in the later rounds. Roy will move on to Midget AAA while the two Maritimers will be playing in the US next season.
I know I missed a few picks. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll reach out to get some info.
