Hockey Canada Men's U18 Club National Championship (formerly known as the Telus Cup) is at 5pm on TSN3. It will feature potential 1st overall pick Caleb Desnoyers against Wildcats prospect Vincent Légaré.
An all-Quebec match up between St-Hyacinthe and Seminaire St-Francois.

Finishes his checks, protects the puck well and wins a lot of one-on-one battles. Desnoyers checks all the boxes. You name it and he's got it.

Sounds like a similar scouting report

Did you notice how Desnoyers team mate Emile Guite looked ? scouting says he is a goal scorer, maybe the Cats could trade their other first round picks and move up and take him also .

Import draft is July 5th. Moncton is drafting 35th and 95th.
Obviously lots of picks will be skipped but that's where they're slotted for now.

Are any current Euros on the block or will the Cats draft twice?...also aware that Barbs could come back as a 20

I'll be curious to see how we approach the Euro. Do we take an established NHL drafted player (Jaskin/Axel) or do we take a younger 3 year eligible player

That strategy makes sense, without knowing who may be available … not having access to the Russians lowers the overall talent pool significantly - same number of teams fishing in a much smaller pool. Losing Taibel a year early hurts - he was coming on as an 18 year old likely would have been a pretty good player at 19 - I think we will be hard pressed to find not one but two guys who will be better than he would have been for 2023-24.

If they can get a cheap older Euro who has been in the Q a year or two, that would work as well.

Can’t see Moncton having any 20 year old euros on the roster next year other than Barbashev. Moncton’s defence won’t actually be that young next year. The returnees will be 20 (1), 19 (2), 18 (2) and 17 (1). I think you want to see whether guys like AFG and Grenier can take the next step and play a bigger role. I think they likely get a free agent or keep a rookie for the last spot or two. They don’t really have any guys in the pipeline now from previous drafts that will likely push for a spot.
