Elie to Shawinigan for Olivier Groulx and a 2024 2nd. Every year there is a deal that seems to come out of nowhere ... and this one qualifies. I'm surprised by this one. But Anthony Stella must be high on Groulx and adding an early 2nd round draft choice this year should help with the rebuild. There was some buzz on the boards that G Kyle Hagen would be moving from Rouyn-Noranda to a team in the Maritimes ... and I thought SJ could be a good landing spot for a former 1st round draft choice.

Well all those that want to be younger and worse the rest of this year should be happy.
PS Mann is expected to play tomorrow.

We need Richard getting minutes, though Duhamel staying in midget is fine. I expected us to trade older players up front, but we're net the same (but worse). I'm still holding out hope for an add of some kind, but the bottom of our roster contains a couple of players that aren't good enough.

I was very happy to see the deal for Tyler Peddle but I was also expecting one or two of the other 19 year-olds to be replaced by younger players.
It will be interesting to see if Anthony adds one or two players via waivers, or free agency from other leagues, before the final roster deadline in a few days.

Groulx should be here in the 2nd half (tied for best PPG in midget) He does fit the C request I had I really hope that Fournier starts playing C If it were in my hands, I'd run something like: - Fournier - Peddle Simek - - Elliott Miller - Groulx - Beveridge Reynolds - Pierre-Noel - Akkouche where someone is added to that to make it work (not well, just work) and Mateiko takes the other spot Tivey - Mann Bilodeau - Ianniello Richard - Amyot MacLean Robinson Leaver

Who do we think our 20s will be next season? Fair to assume it will be 3 guys from our current roster? Reinhart was the one guy I figured was a lock to be be back next season if he wasn't traded during this trade period.
We have 3 D who could all be back but I'm not sure we'd use all 3 spots on D so we'll likely try to move one. Pierre-Noel, Akkouche and Laforge could all play their way onto next year's team with a decent 2nd half. If I had to pick right now I think I'd go with Pierre-Noel. I definitely don't think we'd spend much to bring someone else in for next season, certainly not a goalie.

I can see the Sea Dogs going with four 16 year-olds - Beveridge, Groulx, Amyot and Duhamel - in the second half.
As for the overagers for next season, I'd expect two of Mann, Tivey or Ianniello to stay. As for the third 20 year-old, I can see either a free agent from Ontario or a deal for a player born in the Maritimes from a Quebec team who will have an excess of '04s - possibly Donovan Arsenault from Baie-Comeau (currently have 10), Leighton Carruthers from Rouyn-Noranda (have 13) or possibly Sam Oliver or Luke Woodworth from Drummondville (have 9).

I like this trade I wasn't a big fan of Ellie alot of talent but to inconsistent and I guess the coach thought the same with his numerous benching this year. I wanted to get younger and they did still some deadweight in LaForge and akouche.

Yes team will be young next year but if they are looking to build for the future it is best to get the younger players playing. I expect Mateiko should get us a good draft pick or two. You also missed Maclean on D. We have a solid group just need a few pieces

The future looks bright but I still hope we finish bottom 5 to get a shot at Alexis Joseph.

Julien Bonnet - a '07 LHD - may be a factor next year as well. I recall that he was rated second round by CSR but slid to the Sea Dogs in the 7th round.
