Yeah. It was nice to finally make the finals but that series stings. We had everything perfect to win and arguably deserved to win given the shot ratio alone.
End of the day we had an amazing team that picked the absolute worst time to play their worst 5 game stretch.
Things may be messy now, but the moves we made made us freakishly good. It's nearly impossible to maintain that level of success as a smaller market team in junior hockey. Even the likes of Quebec as the biggest or close to the biggest market in the CHL couldn't replicate the level of competitiveness we maintained for that stretch of time. Like Sprong and Chlapik have been gone for a while and we're just now hitting the rebuild from that.
And I understand there were anomalies in that run of years like the year we swept Halifax and took the Armada to 7 (where who knows how the Q finals go that year because we absolutely owned Bathurst in all aspects head to head that year, and the Memorial Cup was a fairly weak one that year).
Hindsight is always 20/20. Jim has proven to be able to build strong teams and as much as we'd like to cure that itch or finals withdrawal, we'll be there again.
This time we just have the benefit of knowing where it went wrong and being able to address those issues long before they show up.
My apologies if this post kinda rambled on, I'm using my phone.

Hindsight is 20/20 when it comes to Colten Ellis. When the trade was made in June 2020, did any of us truthfully know the 2020-2021 season would unfold the way it did? Had they had a normal season, we may look at that Ellis trade completely differently. Hindsight is always 20/20 covid hit us in spring of 2020 we acquired Colten Ellis in June so yeah we probably had a pretty good idea hockey wasn't goin back to normal in 2020/21 season I hope you made a ton of money investing in Zoom in March 2020 with that kind of foresight. All other contending teams made major moves despite being mid-pandemic. Never forget Val d'Or acquiring Jakob Pelletier at the draft and filing their paperwork via carrier pigeon, or Joshua Roy being moved for 3 1st's and a 2nd. It's easy to say "yeah we all knew what was coming" when truthfully, nobody did. Anyways, no point in us debating what happened 3 years ago, all we can do now is watch and hope for what we think is best for the team.

I wish i had monety to invest in anything.... but I didn't bother applying for government handouts and well inflation has kicked my ass since of course all other contending teams made moves nobody suggested they did not i simply said it was alot to spend on a 20 year old goalie and added the mid pandemic part because we didn't even really get to fully experience how good a goalie he was as nobody could go to the games and the online feeds buffered like hell back then lol Jacob Pelletier was then sold the next year to restock cupboards which is what you want to do with your assets... and something we have not done very well at all I don't remember what happened with Roy but memory tells me he wanted out of SJ no? and they made out like bandits by moving him ... kinda like what I suggested we should do with Kearsay yes we can hope for what is best for the team... we can also debate the past the present and the future as it's kinda the whole point of being a member of this community to begin with

It's a shame that the circumstances denied people from experiencing just how good he was with the Islanders! Not to get into semantics, but Pelletier moved on to the pros after Val d'Or; they didn't trade his rights and restock the cupboards with him. Roy wanted out of SJ yes, I was just continuing my point that major moves were made by other teams during the pandemic. I appreciate debating the past and having that banter on these boards; you're right, it's the correct place to have it. Was just trying to get back on topic of the current trade period.

I could see a deal between the Isles and Drummondville.
They have a good relationship as they made deals together for years.
I could see them wanting Horth and I would see Peddle coming to the Isles. Other pieces would be involved to get the deal done.
Just my opinion.

Obviously he doesn’t have a ton of value but I feel like he’s been good for us, especially for a FA.

Something like this will depend a lot on whether Kearsey is NHL drafted this year and projected to be a pro at 20. We will have a better answer to that question this time next year. I know it would never happen but I wonder what Rimouski would pay for Kearsey? There hosting the memorial cup and he will be one of the best D men in the league I can see next Xmas if we’re not where we want to be and with our lack of assets I can see that a strong possibility that Kearsey may need to be traded to get us where we need to be I’m not sure as of today where he’s projected, and yes I realize it’s super early but last I looked it wasn’t in the 1st 3 rounds. That’s all it would show without a subscription 🙄

Wonder if there would be any interest in Morneau on the market, leads the team in 5v5 goals, reliable center and by far the best passer on the team.

Huckins has also stepped up his game immensely. He would certainly be an upgrade on a lot of 20s around the league

I’ve always wondered if Morneau could have had a full 4 years in this league…just where he’d be. The truth is, he’s still a bit of a rookie when it comes to the Q. With such a late start, We’ll never find out but I sure hope he gets to continue somehow someway to find his full potential.

Trade period is now open I’d love to see some older players moved for younger players or picks but we don’t have much if anything with value haha

Thanks guys for Peter Repcik vs 6 st choice 18 goals and 20 assist on 29 Games . Peter had moments where he stood out for sure. We always had a good chuckle when he missed a play though. He skated back to the bench pouting.
