Ryan Reylonds was looking for a Hockey team before. He likes to buy teams that are in small towns and rejuvenate them. Just saying. That would be pretty cool, and honestly not a silly idea. Plus he doesn't have the issue of promotion/relegation, so finances would be fairly stable with the team. Who are some potential, realistic buyers in the Atlantic region? Murphys on PEI are doubtful because they had a chance to buy the Islanders and didn't. Maybe someone in the Irving family? The Irvings would be a conflict of interest (potentially re-creating the Quebec/BLB scenario) given that they own the Wildcats. Honestly, the city buying the majority of shares would be the best thing.

It was more just me throwing out a name in curiosity. What had me thinking Irving was simply that like what Robert Irving and say Mary Jean Irving do under the Irving name are totally different and unrelated to each other.

St-Isadore Asphalt is a big rumored buyer, they have the money/capital and are somewhat local. If not them then the only thing I can maybe see happening is the city buying the team and going from there. However, that could have negative impacts on it's own as I do believe it affects local taxpayers. like people mentioned it's a hard sell because the team has lost money the past couple of seasons, so it's not exactly an appreciating asset. Yes they made money in 2018 but that didn't save them and then continued to lose again afterwards. BC however seems to be doing fine with the city owning them? So it's probably best case scenario for us as well being another tiny market.

Thank you for clearing some of that up for me. I do hope it gets figured out and Bathurst can continue having a team. Good luck to all Bathurst fans on the future of the team!

That's just the reality of Canadian politics. Not 1 tax payer in your region will accept higher taxes to pay the bills of a hockey team while other services suffer.

St-Isadore Asphalt could work though.
