I can’t image the team running with 3 20s on D. It does not help the development of younger players. Goaltending is looking promising. We need to pick players that will actually help the team not just keep guys because they were on the team last year.

Run with 3 OA on that assumption and make a change if/when he comes back.

Run with 1 OA F and 2 OA D and if Mann comes back decide what to do next. I would agree as you want a shot at a decent OA F and not wait until later in September

Lavallee is back in Amherst. Too bad... he had a great camp... and preseason games. Must be something up with that.

Not every player stands out. To me in the Q.. its about trying to add players that don't make mistakes often. LAVALLEE was a safe player... but he was a 20.. and no matter what he did.. for his skill level. It was gonna be difficult for him to make the team. Plus it would have had to be a trade as well.. so it was a hard place to be for him.

Today is cuts and trade window closing.
They have to be down to 25 by the end of the day. SJ would have 3rd priority in the waiver draft tomorrow too (all 18s and 19s that get cut are available)
Note: Marek Beaudoin is not waiver draft eligible unless Chicoutimi elects to make him so because he refused to report to camp.

And if they're going to trade for a 20, there's probably a better one available out there anyway

The Saint John Sea Dogs have acquired goaltender Charles-Edward Gravel from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, the team announced today. In return, Baie-Comeau receives a fourth-round pick and fifth-round pick in 2027.
Gravel, 20, is a former second-round pick of the Blainville-Boisbriand and was acquired by the Drakkar during the 2023-24 season. A product of Lévis, Quebec, the six-foot-one, 194-pound netminder went 31-17-1-1 last season with a .909 save-percentage and a 2.48 goals-against-average. In the post-season, Gravel finished with a 12-4-1 record along with a .910 save-percentage and a 2.37 goals-against-average.

Could be a great Flip at the trade deadline if he shows promise, for the price it's almost worth having a goalie that can keep you competitive in games against the division powerhouses.

Not a fan of this move at all. The last thing I wanted was to use a 20-year old spot on a goalie again.

I have to agree. You would think the team needs a 20yr old up front not in nets. This is a rebuild and I think one of the other goalies would be a good backup to Robinson.

I am fine with this move.
As people have said this is a rebuild, however, you don’t want to have goalies that have a combined 26 Q games under their belt - if things go off the rails it can really dampen their confidence.
