The CHL Import Draft is scheduled to begin tomorrow afternoon at 12 p.m. ADT.
Picking at 10th overall, this will be the highest selection the Islanders have ever made at the Import Draft.
The Isles also hold the 70th pick in the Draft and will still get to use the pick despite acquiring Egor Goriunov earlier in the off-season.
With the Islanders set to use both their picks tomorrow, this will lead to both of last year’s selections being released. Ondrej Maruna and Aksels Ozols.

I will assume that we take two forwards. Likely pick #2 is a longshot (like when we took Michkov) since it’s pretty much a done deal that Goriunov will be part of our team.

Be nice if they could land a top skilled Russian/Belarusian FW that is currently playing in the USHL.....
I Think you will see a few of those players selected today.

i'm just hoping for someone 18 that can play here and contribute for the next 2 years
no more 17 year old projects like last years failure

I hope we get a good 2C behind Butler. Theres a log-jam already on defence, at least on the left side so a defenceman would be disappointing.

Shows he’s playing in the SHL next year, and a top prospect for next years draft.
I’m gonna assume this is our long shot pick? If not obviously looks like a stud, but I’m doubtful he would leave the SHL to come play junior again

Not a 2C, but definitely a good pick, if he comes. By the sounds of it he's going to stay in the SHL which just makes it seem like a wasted pick. If he does come over though, could give the Isles a top 4 of Kearsey, Conrad, Vos* (he may be going to Summerside) and this guy, which would be one of the best in the league imo.

Also interesting to note that he was born in the US.

Also interesting to note that he was born in the US. He was born in 2007. During the 2006-2007 / 2007-2008 seasons, his Father was playing with the Minnesota Wild.

Father is former NHL player Branko Radivojevic.
I think I’ve read that Luka is a prospect of note. Yes, like many top Czech and Slovak prospects, his development pathway has been through Sweden.
I’m guessing this selection might be a reach and our next pick could be more likely to be on our roster with Goriunov.
