was at the game and here is what i thought
Out of the goaltenders i thought that Bolduc was the top one but i also thought that Babiak looked good too.
Boyle didnt see Gomes looks solid on skates not afraid off the corners but had a couple of bad giveaways Herr send him home Brown didnt see much Lamoureux thought he was one of the better ones playing with a mean streak espically when he dumped Lewis in the net. Would like to see him drop the gloves. MacAusland quite impressed for a small guy, shifty, and doesnt mind the corners also doesnt give up on the play in front. Watson has speed to burn good break outs want to see what he can do against the veterans Warner has a great shot Dimitruk this kid is ready for the Q lets hope we can get him signed beatiful skater Furlotte really impressed with this kid plays it safe in his own end Little for a big guy he isnt clumsy also has a nice shot can see him making the team Sill never really noticed but not suppose to keeps it simple Smith i thought he had a good game had lots of scoring chances but has hands made of stone Frazee played a great game thought he was all over the place the rest of them didnt notice them

In My Opinion
Best Goalie was Tyler Bolduc
D's
Tolles looks alot better then last year, could be a key pp guy on the team.... Dimitruk, impressive guy, lock to make team Barberio, was decent, was kinda shocked to see him play in rookie camp lol...
F's
Watson, was best guy out there in my opinion Frazee, I agree, had a great game, has a great 1st period, decent 2nd n 3rd... Mscausland, small guy, but fast with lots of talent Lamoureux, seems like a good guy to have on team, I think he'll make it n be our tougher guys on team

Herr is more intrested in "trying" to be a tough guy..Lots of give aways. Still see him getting his bell rung by Cormier last year.. Brown: Soild... Lamoureux: Strong, not really impressive MacAusland : He's a good play maker..Good vision..would like to see what he could do with a few veterans on the same line... Watson: Stood out to me the most...Like to see more of him. Dimitruk: hope to see him come..Played well with Tolles. Sill: Very Solid player...Plays alot like Christian Tyler Lewis: made a few really good passes that could have been converted.. It was also nice to see Barbario get a goal... Great first day..Tuesay should be better when there nerves calm down and they settle in a bit more. Question?? Where are all the tough guys.. When Spencer came, you knew what he was here for.... Sniderman is here for camp..I'm really intrested in seeing what they do with him...

Sniderman is just in camp for the ice time and to provide some leadership and good competition in the games. I hate it when they screw around with the 20 year olds but there is no chance of him making the team unless Rio completely sucks.

I just caught the second half of the second game today, but from what I saw, Barberio was the most impressive player. I know it's unfair judging him against the rookies cause he already played a full year in the q, and he should already be a step ahead of the other defenseman anyways, but he seemed to take charge everytime he was on the ice and controlled the play very well. I'm expecting good things for him this year and perhaps an U-18 roster spot next summer for Canada. I find Sill was the best overall forward. He didn't create the offensive changes that Watson created but he was probably the hardest worker and showed decent offensive instincts. He seemed to have good chemistry with Peltak, although it was mostly Sill making things happen and not Peltak.
Watson was definitely the biggest offensive threat and I'm looking forward to see what he can do against the veterans. I wonder if he can win himself a spot on the top two lines?
Tolles was a bit flashy, he still seems like he feels he has to do something right away whenever he has the puck like he did last season. He seems to almost panic which isn't a good sign for a 19 yr old offensive D-man. Still, it could be better than the over-patient Nathan Welton. I was hoping he would be dominating a lot more than he did, but just like Watson, I'm looking forward to see what he can do against the veterans.
I didn't see much of Dimitruk, all i noticed was his passing seemed very good, a notch up on most players in the Q.
I also didn't see much of MaCausland, but he seems to be fearless and a bit of a pest. I'm interested to see if he will adjust his style during the regular season.
Like most people here, I found Gomes was the best free agent. He also reminds me of JS Adam, like SteveUL said. His age is definitely against him, if he was 17, it would be a no-brainer for him to make it. If Goyens gets traded (which I hope), I could see him as the 6th defenseman. If Dimitruk decides to go NCAA, he has an even better shot.
However, I don't like to jump to any conclusions after watching just 30 minutes of hockey. As I expected, the returning players and players with higher level experience were the most dominant so it didn't change the outlook of the opening day roster much. I probably won't be able to make it to any other of the rookie camp scrimmages, I'll look forward to reading your reports. I hope the main camp intrasquads will be later at night than 5 o'clock.

Saw the 5 PM game, just some thoughts:
- Zach Sill: really liked his game, very solid, and definitely reminds me of Gaudet.
Tyler Bolduc: Looked solid, but so did Babiak, Cooling wasn't bad either, and Dupuis wasn't great but not terrible.
Myles Gomes: As Steve said earlier he also reminded me of J-S Adam, made a couple poor decision but was solid overall.
Kelan Herr: Thanks for coming out!
Matt Brown: Didn't really notice him at all.
Devon MacAuslund: He showed some potential that he can be a very dangerous player, but at times he was also invincible.
Marcus Watson: Looked good, big and fast and he'll definitely advance to the main camp.
Paul Dimitruk: He didn't show me a whole lot offensively, but I thought he was fairly solid defensively for the most part. He will be a good one if he sticks around.
Joe Tolles: He was ok, but quite frankly he'll have to do better than that if he plans on making the team.
Bobby Little: I wasn't sure about him at first but he grew on me as the game progressed. He was stronger on his skates than I expected him to be and made safe plays out there. I think he'll advance to the main camp and have a decent shot at making the team.
Edward Stephens/Andrew Pettit: I thought they showed some good skills, Pettit a little bit more so. With the depth at forward these guys are a long shot but with both being 17 I think they might be worth a look at the main camp.

Watson got a few good chances tonight, might have to work on his finish. Could give Stephane Goulet a phone call or two. Was nice to see Barberio repeat his youtube goal. Sill skated very well, great addition. In nets I find Bolduc was the best, came up big for his team in the shootout too.

The line of Frazee-Stephens-Pettitt looked strong offensively. I don't know about having a player with pet-tit on the back of a sweater though. Stephens is one of the guys that really stood out to me along with Bolduc, Lamoureux, Sill, Dimitruk and Tolles. Watson may habe been the best player on the ice overall. I also agree on Frazee, the first half of the game he was one of the better players. The first guys i'd cut...Herr(unless Lamoureux can't handle the tough guy job) Brousseau Warner Dupuis Croft Peltak Blain and Rousseau.
