[glow=red,2,300]The Titan never backed up from paying well the top Euros they had and I am confident to say that it is not a matter of nickel and dime here. For those who believe that this would be a fatal blow to the Titan, I will answer that any fan following this team closely would be much less assertive on that regard...... [/glow] Well that 's really hard to swallow. First off, the Titan have NEVER paid for top Euros. The reason they have never drafted a Euro worth a damn is that they wait to find out from the agents to see who they can pick up for next to nothing. They have never sent a scout to Europe, and rely solely on agents' info to pick their players. They'll pass on any player that will cost more that $30,000 And how do you knoow what Bartos is doing? He obviously isn't here...that's obvious, we can all see that. How can you say it's obvious he's looking at Euro offers...are you there, he called to ask your opinion? Whatever the reason, there's no way the Titan brass will put up with this, so if he doesn't show up or call soon, he will either be traded, or LGM will settle his case by just telling him to stay home, and let him rot on the team's roster.[/quote] You are confused Aspen! The "top Euros they had" is what I wrote.....not the ones they drafted, but rather the ones they traded for, like Pohl,Bartos,Durak....these are the ones who were well paid.....and Sprukts. I agree 100% that LGM will not spend big $$s for question marks Euros....he will rather not pick.

I don't know how much of a question mark the Euro is when they are drafted my an NHL team and want to come over to play a North American style before making an attempt to play pro over here. The guys that have been drafted by the Titan over the years have cost the team way more than they were worth (not as people but and Q hockey players) in plane tickets alone. Besides Sprukts and Wantaluk (who I was sure was gonna kill somebody on the ice with his play) I cannot think of guys DRAFTED by Titan management that sticked because they earned it?

Baumgartner was but he was a hold over from the Laval years.

TeleGraph Journal PETER ASSAF TITAN TRAIL Published Saturday August 25th, 2007
This has been edited to try and keep it to the topic of Martin Bartos. Most of the other stuff has to do with things that are posted in other areas already.
Sylvain Couturier is waiting for a phone call.
The general manager of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Acadie-Bathurst Titan admits he hasn't heard anything from Martin Bartos since the team opened training camp over a week ago.
"We are disappointed with the way it has turned out," Couturier said. "Martin talked to us over the summer and he was all excited about coming here. Then for the last three weeks I haven't heard anything from him."
"He doesn't return our calls, he doesn't answer our e-mails," Couturier said. "He hasn't asked for anything. If it was any kind of special demand (he had) at least we'd know it. But that's not even the case; it is just a case of completely ignoring the organization right now."
"I know there are players who have tried to call him as well and it seems like he doesn't want to talk to anybody right now," said the Titan GM. "From my understanding he is really disappointed about not being drafted, and I can understand that, but at the same point it is a little bit early for him to throw in the towel. He's only 19 and last year he had a good example in (Thomas) Beauregard who just signed a good contract with (the National Hockey League's) Montreal (Canadiens)."
"It's never too late, especially with the talent he's got," said Couturier. "Hopefully he will call us and let us know what is going on."
The Titan are also expecting to hear from Cory Smearer of Dalhousie before the weekend is through.
"He is in the militia and he (had) a contract until Aug. 24," Couturier said. "He's supposed to call me as soon as he gets here"¦then we'll go from there."

Am I pulling the trigger too fast? We will see in the next week or so. Oxmoron. If you want to see only in a week's time wether you pulled the trigger too fast, that's because you have.
