Perhaps Rio could have had a couple of those goals, but we can't let Herr off scot free either - he gift wrapped the first one when Boyle's pass went through his legs, then tripped on his own feet trying to recover it, only to watch a Foggie blow by and snap it by Riopel - looked like he caught Riopel sleeping a little ... Herr also made an atrocious clearing attempt that directly lead to the winner in the third period - tough night at the office for him. Brown and Brenton both played their best games IMO ... As a team, we need to get better at reading the play - too many times we make blind passes to areas where there is nothing but the other coloured jersey in sight, resulting in turnovers. The blind passes are driving me nuts....the Cameron-Eagles-Marquardt line is often guilty there. As well, we seem to be able to cycle the puck....but then it goes nowhere....isn't the point of the exercise to generate a scoring chance in front of the net?

Calling a timeout at 1:47 is too early IMO ... but in hindsight since it was the last opportunity it should have been done. Flynn didn't have hindsight at his disposal ... he gambled that there would be another whistle and lost that gamble. I don't blame him for that ... I'm sure he'd like to have that back too if he could do it over. Exact same scenario as Kovalev calling out Carboneau ... all based on hindsight. Sorry to blow your buble........that was not hindsigth! I mentioned that(at1:44) to the fans next to me! BTW Kovalev is paid to play............I m a paying fan! Maybe it wasn't hindsight for you ... but at that same moment I said to the fans around me that he probably won't use the TO now because its a little too early. Me and Flynn and a few others seem to disagree with you. If they were two goals down they would have called the TO. In your opinion ... when is it too early to call a timeout when you are one goal down in the 3rd ?

When you are cycling the puck you often have to do a blind dump because its too close quarters to be able see your partners. Your linemates have to know where they should be and support you on both sides ... the puck carrier has to be able to be confident that those guys are there. On the other hand ... Gomes and a few others have been guilty of a few blind passes that aren't related to the cycle ... and those do drive me nuts.

The thing I don't understand is why Gomes is in the lineup every single game?....it really doesn't matter how bad he plays,it's like his spot is guaranteed, heck even vs Gatineau he fanned 3 times on the one-timer on the pp,then the next pp he's right out there again . How bad does a player have to play before he gets off the pp or even sits out a game...I know for certain players one bad game and they sit the next? Does the team have loyalties to Gomes I don't know about? Also is he one of the players that came "strongly" recommended by Ted Nolan? There has to be an explanation.

Sunday, Baca took one penalty and was benched for the rest of the game and missed last night's game

The ones I am referring to aren't on the cycle - I can live with those ... I am talking about breakout passes made to areas of the ice where no one is, passes off the rush to non-existant linemates, etc ... it looks like pick-up hockey at times it is so disorganized.

My question about the cycle remains...why is nobody in position for a shot?

My question about the cycle remains...why is nobody in position for a shot? because they are all in the corner cycling the puck ... too exhausted to shoot.

It was Wilson that came recommended by Nolan. Gomes and Eastman were giving up their NCAA eligibility according to the paper to come here. I am very happy with Eastman though.

The problem with the top 4 d-men is that they are put in roles they are not really ready for. Pianosi and Barberio are still learning and Baca, Eastman and Gomes are getting used to a higher level. Not sure why Herr is still there, he is 19, struggling, little upside and rarely fights. Play Baca and Wilson...cut Herr and have Boyle #7

Baca should absolutely play everyday....at this point, what is there to lose? Might as well get him acclimated to the North American game ASAP.

Although baca brings size he brings little if nothing of anything else, yes its a good play to chip it out off the glass, but this kid isn't even smart enough to do that. When you think of a Euro D you usually think of a mobile, puck handling offensive defenceman or a zdeno chara type big physical defenseman with a good power paly shot. Baca doesn't bring any of that terrible hands no mobility makes terrible decisions and doesn't hit a soul for his size. I know Herr is no godsend but i would rather lose with guys like herr and boyle who go out there stick there nose in play physical and leave it all on the ice. If Baca was born in PEI, Alberta, Ontario i think alot of peoples perception of him would change to a big soft slow defenseman. Just my opinion of him after seeing the majority of the cats games.

He's more physical and makes a much better first pass than Herr...who is from Ontario...plus he is a year younger. Baca's biggest problem is they sat him the first 2-3 weeks because he spoke little or no english, now he is trying to catch up to the other players in terms of the systems and speed of the league.
