This is all speculating right now, so we need to be careful, but say these 2 teams do work out a deal, any chance we could get Oligny from them? Euros are tough to trade, their value can be hard to determine, but Knotek is high end and if putting points on the board with little skill around him. So 1 for 1, Knotek for Oligny....is that unrealistic? Euros generally are cheaper than the typical player because of the limitations. However, there are multiple teams out there with spots available, and Knotek is the only non-20 year old out there. Olsson can't go back to PEI, and Stich takes up two spots, which would be an unlikely move if PEI is a serious buyer. Knotek for Oligny isn't unrealistic IMO. High end player now, for high end player of the future. Hard to say if that appeals to PEI, I don't know how deep their blueline prospects are. It's also hard to tell how serious they plan on being. A guy like Bishop could also go back to PEI to soften the blow of losing Oligny. If PEI targets a guy like Legace or Sauve, they won't get a guy like Bishop included as well. Obviously a deal for Knotek/Bishop would bring back more than just Oligny, but the Bishop angle may help the deal along, where otherwise PEI might just balk at the idea of dealing Oligny. Before adding a guy like Knotek, I'm sure PEI would look at upgrading their top 4 on defense, plus adding grit up front. Adding Knotek won't add any sandpaper to a team already including Doyle, Champagne, Casavant etc

If PEI isn't going to go all out, and just wants to make minor moves, a guy like Stich could probably be had for a 2nd. he uses two spots, but that won't matter if PEI doesn't want to fill them both. Knotek is still a guy that competes every night, where as PEI has a few guys that don't fit that mold. They still need a /1 forward, and with Cormier heading to Rouyn, they aren`t going to address their offensive, and sandpaper needs in one player. Plus Knotek is far from soft. He`s certainly not physical, but he doesn`t shy away.

Halifax will have a very high pick in the euro draft. No way Knotek returns as a 20. Plus KNotek will be a pro player anyhow.

Yea Knotek is willing to engage in physical play, he's not scared. Frankly the fact he hasn't been injured in his 3 years playing here, with the hits he takes, is amazing. Tough SOB.
PEI does need help on D, no doubt there. In regards to their grit, whos to say they aren't looking at dealing a Doyle or a Struthers, Mahbod, to make upgrades elsewhere, while replacing that offense with Knotek. With their inconsistant play to date this year, it's hard to believe management is happy with everyone on that roster. They could make a lot of changes, yet still come out of the xmas trade period as contenders.

I dont see PEI being a good fit unless the name Oligny is included and even then it would take PEI's 1st rd pick as well im guessing.

Ummm, forgive my for sounding like a QMJHL noob here, but, why would stitch take up 2 spots? 2 20 spots or 2 Euro? People refer to teams having 5 'impact' spots....3 20's and 2 euros..all 5 of those players should be impact players. When you have a 20 year old euro, they take up 2 of those 5 spots. So Stich would take up a 20 spot and a euro spot...in effect using up 2 impact spots.

I don't see us trading Knotek unless its a really good deal we can't pass up!!!! I can see him as a 20 for us!!! There is no way you understand how this league works. When a team does bad they they get high draft picks. So that mean we can get a highly touted player. Someone like a Jake or Nagy. Plus this team has never had a 20 year old euro. If Cam is smart Tomas will not be a moosehead after december. I think there might actually be a bidding war for Knotek theres a few teams that could use him. Teams that Tomas would help out in my mind are CB, Drum, and now PEI. I know CB has two guys but they might want to upgrade on Jan seens how he is taking up a 20 spot too. So I don't think he going to go cheap. someone said it before not Brad type trade but more then people think.

That may sound ignorant but I do not see these kids as midgets. I know he was drafted high but that asumes Serge knew what he was doing. I understand what Howitzer was saying that you have to make the deal for the best talent availiable, but I like how our Dee projects in 2 years, are forwards I am not so sure.

Hes good....hes probably the best 16 year old dman in my opinion. Oligny is better right now than Hannay and Gillard and hes better than Lewis and Bishop...itd be stupid not to add him to the fold.
