What better team then the Moose... not sure. Pick a team that may be looking to compete next year and needs some scoring depth. He'll be 20 when the Moose are trying to contend. He fits much better on PEI then Halifax as PEI should be OK in the East next year as well... Halifax is trying to bring along younger players. Makes more sense for Halifax to try and get Pelletier's game going then it does to take Street as a piece in a trade for Knotek and try to get him producing.
You have to recognize MacMillan =/= Knotek in a whole bunch of ways... situations are very different. Knotek has been a steady producer and progressing through each year to the point that he is now in terms of being a captain and leading a team in everyway. MacMillan was a former young star with a bright future who became a bit of a reclamation project because of injuries and other issues, his production was falling. There values at this point in their 19 year old seasons were going in different directions as Knotek is at the top of his game and MacMillan was trying to get his game back. I see the comparison you are trying to make (mostly in terms of us fans discussing it), just realize there's many spots where the situation differs.
As for the MacMillan trade I think it was a very solid trade and what the Moose needed for some long term stability. Brunet is helping to stabilize them this year, Lewis looks like he'll be solid for the next few years and the best of it, two 2nd rd picks, still to come... plus whatever Pelletier becomes for us. Where this differs vs. Knotek is that Halifax has no need for quantity this year. That why a trade like MacMillan's would be less appealing this year.
We'll see if he's actually traded.
