If PEI goes all out Knotek would be crazy not to go. PEI is one of the only options available and has the biggest chance of making noise. If PEI added Knotek Adam and Deschamp they are able to contend with Moncton and Saint John. From what I hear Saint John isn't moving alot of players. If PEI goes all in they could very well take out Saint John if the first round. If PEI goes "All in" ... they likely won't meet SJ in Round 1 ... they'd manage to get 2nd or 3rd in the division.

I think Moncton will take 1st in the division. Therefore Saint John and PEI would meet each other for 2nd and 3rd.

Saint John is way too far ahead...arent they something like 15 pts up on Moncton with 32-33 games left??
Even if Saint John gets 32 pts in their remaining 32 games, Moncton would have to get 47 pts in 32 games...thats almosy 24 wins and 8 losses...and thats IF Saint John plays .500 hockey, which is doubtful.

The 'Cats have a lot of ground to make up to take the division...
SJ is 18 points up after 38 games. Moncton has three games in hand.
If Sj wins only half their remaning games, they'll end up with 93 points (assuming no OT losses). Moncton would need to go 24-9 to tie. If SJ wins 2/3 of their remaining games, MOncton needs a 29-4 finish to tie.

If SJ wins 2/3 of their remaining games, MOncton needs a 29-4 finish to tie. It is highly unlikely ... however ... We do have 3 games in hand and that could account for 6 points gained ... Plus ... we have 5 games against SJ still to come ... 3 at home ... a home and home coming up next week ... and that could (not saying it will) account for 10 pts gained. So ... we do have an opportunity to gain 16 points of those 18 pts just by winning our games in hand and winning the future matchups in the season series in regulation ... a tall order but not impossible. It is very unlikely ... we haven't been healthy all year ... and no hint of that letting up soon ... and we'd have to match them win for win all the way and hope they have a few other losses along the way. I don't think we are worried about it ... if we get close by March maybe we'll start watching the standings ... but otherwise it is more important to stay ahead of PEI and CB at this point.

Russell knows what teams Knotek will report to and he also stated on radio that he would love to be an O/A in Halifax, one of the teams cleared is PEI and they have been talking for awhile now and I understand it just needs Daddy Savard's approval. Back to the main topic here, what are some of the teams? PEI and the Cape have been named is there any others?

i guess the "He's going nowhere" crowd was right. According to John Moore, Thomas expressed his wishes to stay in Halifax and use his no trade clause. since he's gone at the end of the season, i'd give his minutes to someone who will be here next season and relegate him to 4th line duty.

Yeah, that is the right approach. Let's show the kids that loyalty means nothing. Good luck getting anyone else to report

You play the game to win, so therefore you play your best player the most minutes. Knotek isn't going to have his playing time cut back.

Knotek's the captain, one of the hardest workers on the team, and really the only guy who can create any type of offence with skill alone. Benching him, or reducing his minutes because he wasn't willing to go to Drummondville (or where ever it was) doesn't send a good message to the players on the team that you're trying to develop. If Knotek was just traded away, and didn't report, and Halifax had to compensate the team that he didn't report to, the Mooseheads wouldn't have had anything to show for it. At least this way, they still have Knotek for the last 2 months. Do you not think he's been positive in the development of Grant and Randall? Two guys that were projected as career 3rd liners. It's not as simple as saying "cut his icetime so a younger guy gets to play more". Something like that might benefit one, but hurt multiple others. Here's a guy that could have (maybe should have) stayed home and played pro after being undrafted into the NHL (twice) with the Mooseheads, and made some good money. Instead, he returns to a crappy team, without his good friend (Stransky) and is still wants to stick it out with the Mooseheads down the stretch. The guy should be commended for that, not chastised.

Perfect Murph, just perfect post. We all understand it is a rebuilding team but as someone who does not miss too many games, I enjoy watching Thomas play. He makes players around him play better and I think he will lead this team to the playoffs. He has been a great Moosehead and as there is no deal to blow us (him) away......... Is good we get to see him for a few more months.
