if no one has offered us "fair value" for him, obviously we think he's better than he actually is. You don't know that one way or another.

I think your going to hear Quebec to come calling. A lot of guys have been traded and there's not that many players left out there. They've been quiet and yet to pull off any trades. Quebec would only come calling if they were to trade Stefanovich.

I think not trading Knotek is a big mistake by Mr.Russell ! This no trade close thing is B.S. i believe Marcel signed Knotek to the NTC, not Cam.

That no trade thing was probably what kept him going back to Halifax over playing for a lot more money at home. It's a small price to pay, honestly. You don't want a team full of 18 year old kids and younger. You need veterans to show the kids the way. This is completely out of Cam's control so how can he be blamed?

I wouldn't blame Cam...I just think it limits their ability to be a contender without selling the farm.

Using that logic every year rebuilding teams limit their ability by not selling every possible asset that can bring in more younger assets. Just because the bottom 5 teams are in the bottom 5 doesn't mean they should completely gut the team of all veteran talent. The important thing is that there is a plan in place. And that's obviously happening in Halifax.

And that's obviously happening in Halifax. Not necessarily. Teams like RN had a lot of depth of talent so they did not need to gut their team last year, they traded Bouron and a couple of others, stayed .500 and have tons of assets this year to get Caron Cormier Delisle Champion. Halifax after the Marchand trade and Patenaude era was not left with much in assets, last year they finished at the bottom but didn't have their 1st rounder. Right now they have a decent amount of solid prospects(B calibre) but apart from Andrews they don't have much in terms of "A" calibre prospects...adding another 1st or blue chip young player would have been a big step in the right direction.

Its a catch 22...if you dont give the NTC they wont come over....but once they become 19 you cant trade them.

Possible good news for Halifax regarding the potential trading of Knotek. Cousineau is heading to Saint John, and Jake Allen to Cape Breton. It's possible Quebec could pick up Gelinas (dumping Stefanovic) and that's a team Knotek might report to. It's also possible Quebec opts for Berube out of Montreal, because I don't see Vincent keeping both he and Roy.

Montreal would give up Allen, plus Wall (who they said they wont trade) and Dion who is only 18
And they get Shaw (overrated), Roy, 2 draft picks and Mieuller at draft.
Its lopsided in CB's favour.

I would prefer Roy. Is he not younger?

It's not that lopsided. Roy in terms of trade value, is worth more than Allen. He's not as good right now, but he's 18. If nothing else it's a wash. What's left is Wall and Dion, vs Shaw, 2 picks and Meilleur at the draft.
