Figured I should start a game thread since the one on Moncton's board for tonight is already 7 pages long. Well, as we all know things didn't go well for the Eagles in Moncton. How bad is it? CB was one of only two teams in the Q playoffs to lose both games in regulation- the other being Lewiston, who has the worst record of all playoff teams. Historically speaking, we're not in any better shape- CB's record in game 3's all time when trailing 2-0 is a remarkably terrible 0-9. Will the change of scenery make a difference? Many Moncton posters noted the very physical style of play the Eagles brought to the Coliseum. One would have to think the Eagles would have a greater chance at success playing that way at home, if an energetic crowd gets behind them... just how much the fanbase will initiate the cheer will be another interesting plot to watch tomorrow night. Another thing to watch with the change of venue is line matching. Will Mario take advantage of last change? Perhaps he'll use this as a chance to rest his defense corps, throwing Larade & Fournier out when Flynn puts his 3rd & 4th lines on. As for our forward core, who knows... Durocher has kept us guessing all season. Going into the series it was much analyzed how both of these teams went for it at the deadline. Both had seen a goal scorer disappoint since the deadline, Lagace here and Bourque in Moncton. Bourque has scored... will Lagace answer the bell? Eagles fans and Buffalo Sabres management alike have to stressed at the fact Adam & Lagace have combined for a total of 0 goals. What kind of goaltending will Olivier Roy bring to the table? For years, the Eagles seemed to have had a playoff hex when it comes to netminding.... a endless stream of great goalies that seem to somehow play well in the playoffs, but get outplayed by the other guy. I'd ask if the Kabanov fiasco would be a distraction for Moncton, but I highly doubt that... his benching seems to be a turning point for Moncton. You know Flynn and his staff will have them ready. Will Wall and/or Brannon be ready for tonight? Hopefully we see a better effort tonight... it's one thing to lose, but it's embarassing to see what we've seen the last 4 periods. GO EAGLES GO!

Brannon out, Wall questionable for the Cats tonight according to Neil Hodge. It's the playoffs ... I wouldn't necessarily take Hodge or any other journalist as the gospel regarding who is in and out when it comes to injuries ... you find out who is playing when the puck drops.

No gospel there.. just reporting what Hodge wrote to CBer's that were wondering if Brannon/Wall could be in the lineup.

According to the cb post still going to play a physical game and try and exploit the talented defence of the moncton wildcats. Too bad our training all year was different, as some players can't and wont do this and many dont have the gas to do it for three periods. I am hoping the lines make sense tonight as they did not in moncton. Luke Adam looked like he was lost with cuzner and legault. He does not know how to backcheck and he misses his man all the time. Hopefully they put horyl, hertzburg and adam back as a line, and dion legault macdougall back as a line. This was our most effective paring.
Contrary to KenMcquire Olivier Roy did not have all that bad a game either night in moncton. He does need to be unbelievable to defeat this team. It looks like sometimes he is frustrated with the product in front of him.
We have the talent to compete, however the coaching and training level is not where it should be.

Speaking of the Cats talented defense, there was a rumour on the Cats board that Jodoin could be back any day now.

Did this Team do anything special like .............get Mullets or Go Blond.......mohawks ? Is there a White Out Tonight.............no ?.........nothing ? ........goes well with everything else this year ! They have some kind of blonde thing on the go - playoff haircuts have become so horribly overdone and cliché, they've lost all meaning unless they're really unique (like the 08 team's "skullets"!) There's nothing fancy to discuss before this game. It's quite simple - win or you're done. No way is any team coming back from 0-3 against this Moncton team that's so deep, well-rounded, and well-coached. Heck, it's hard enough coming back against them when they take a 1-0 lead in a game! The time is tonight for this year's Eagles team to show what it's made of - otherwise, let the soul-searching begin.

Another fun playoff fact just to keep the negative mood going here... ;D The last time, from my recollection, a Q team won a playoff series after losing the first 2 games on the road was in 2003 when Halifax beat Baie-Comeau in the Dillio Conference finals. Coming back from 2-0 period to win has only been done once since then, and we know when. I'm hoping posting these negative facts will be some sort of reverse karma, like that "hidden misery" post I made before winning the 2 in Quebec last year.

On the plus side, things aren't perfect on Moncton's side either. The highly-hyped Kirill Kabanov has been basically sent home for probably the rest of the playoffs - he's scheduled now to play for Russia at next month's World U-18 Championship.

Since he was benched in the 2nd period of game 1 ... we have scored 11 unanswered goals on you .... soooooooo ... with him in the line up we are behind 3-1 ... with him out of the lineup we are up 11-0. I'm just saying ...
