Cape Breton done it against Chicoutimi in 2000 or 2001. Decent. I'm torn about tonight. I don't want them to lose it on home ice, but, at the same time, I don't want them to win it and give me false hope that they'll maybe salvage the series or at least take it to game 7. That's like me. I want a game Saturday night as it's a great way to "pre-drink" but I don't want CB to get back into the series.

I genuinely feel bad for Eagles fans. Especially when the majority of them saw a scenario like this coming and tried waving and screaming at the organization not to invest in this season and instead build for a potential (which has since been confirmed) Memorial Cup bid in 2012. As for last night though, that was perhaps the most spirited effort we've seen on home ice all year and you can definitely argue that the boys deserved a better fate. It was a heartbreaker, but maybe that's what happens when a team waits until the last minute to flip the switch to "On."

Any other season I'd be happy with a game 5 at home ... but this year we need to play as few games as possible ... to avoid injuries and get healthy ... and to have something left in the tank the further we go in the playoffs.

I just seen on th Q site where Moncton filed an appeal on the leagues decision to not suspend Brodeur for his hit from behind in game 2.

I just seen on th Q site where Moncton filed an appeal on the leagues decision to not suspend Brodeur for his hit from behind in game 2. The Commissioner will hear the appeal ... and he was in attendance at the game in question ... so the hit won't lose its affect when just watching it on video. Everybody in attendance knew it was going to be a major ... and we have seen hits of equal intensity during the regular season that received 2-4 games. But will he overrule his own Prefect ?

You would think that he would have already added his imput since he was at the game. IMO the prefect is a joke anyways since they rule on things and it is end of disscussion with no explanation. Maybe Corteau will wait until after tonights game to suspend him, IF they are out.

But will he overrule his own Prefect ? Highly doubtful ... does anyone actually believe that the original decision was made by the prefect without consulting Courteau? The Q appeal process, much like its overall disciplinary process, is a comical farce.

Lagace blindly throwing pucks from the boards into the middle of the ice. Noticed this a couple times, especially in the neutral zone. Moncton winning 1 on 2's in the corner while we have a 3rd man high flat footed leaving 2 Moncton players free to drive the net and leave a D high to stop any breakout. They were also dumping the puck in a lot early making our D skate....by the end of the night you can argue that strategy won them the game. Our D who I just felt sorry for by the end......anyone else notice Brodeur's shift toward the end of OT where the was hunched over....while waiting for the breakout behind the net.....then he made it to the bench and looked like he wanted to collapse....2 shifts later the game was over. Bring on the future.

Maybe now Mario Durocher will finally realize what every hockey fan in the Maritimes knew months ago. What a waste. He could have EASILY set this franchise up for the next 2-3 seasons by selling at the deadline. Instead, he put his head in the sand, loaded up, and will now set the team back 3-4 years. I genuinely feel bad for Eagles fans. Funny thing is I heard on 2 seperate occassions people sitting around me saying something to the effect of: "we traded Roy for this guy!?" I guess my point is that the fans of this team aren't stupid. They know the prices that were paid and what the expectations are. I know the organization will try and make the loss look not as bad as it seems, but I never thought we'd be back at this point so soon. I'm definitely on the Moncton bandwagon from this point on though. They're a hell of a team, work very hard, and are fun to watch....well frustrating when you're on the other end of it but you get the point.

Bring on the future. Yeah I hate to say anything bad about the D because they do the best they can but the Eagles really don't have a D crew built to go far in the playoffs.....Brodeur makes a good no.3 d-man and so does Piscasek but really even with those 2 playing 30 minutes a game it's still not a good enough D....and I found that they gave up tons of odd man rushes that shouldn't have been. When you guys had your 3rd pairing out there against any line it was a scary thought. The eagles definitely deserved a better outcome last night tho.....I'd say they outplayed Moncton for 2/3 of the game.I couldn't get over how good of a job the Cats did of stopping pucks before they got to the net (as if Rio isn't hard enough to beat on his own)...it seemed like evrytime adam or Lagace had a chance to get a shot off from a scoring area the Cats would get a stick on it or it would it a shin pad etc....and coincidentally the game winner was created by a blocked shot. For the Eagles I thought the 2 best players were Legault and Horyl......Horyl was really buzzing every shift out there and Legault was by far the most imposing physical prescence on either team......what a great guy to have on your team come playoff time.I was suprised how soft the Cats were without Brannon in the lineup...barely anybody taking the body whatsoever.I was also suprised how David Savard could find the gas to get that breakaway in OT after playing what seemed to be at least 40 minutes of icetime during regulation On a seperate note what was that call at the start of the 2nd that put Moncton on a 5on3 for anyway? The eastlink guys thought it was a too many men call at the end of the 1st but I re-wound the dvr and paused at the end of the 1st and only 4 guys were on for the Eagles.....seemed like a strange call, luckily it had no effect on the outcome.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned that call. I caught it right away and even had to tell the people around me what the penalty was for.
We ended the period down a man.
At the start of the 2nd when the players came back from intermission we sent 5 players on the ice with Roy.....someone either on the ice or on our bench noticed because the guy closest to the bench flew off the ice....but the damage was done, Moncton's entire bench had both refs all over it.
But they didn't announce too many men, all they said was bench minor at 20:00 of the first.
Oh, and we didn't even play a 3rd D pairing. Woodworth had 1 shift in the second and Fournier was spotted in here and there. Other then that it was the top 4....none of which are more then a #2 at best.

To start the second the 4 were on the ice and then Dion jumped over the boards and went for a skate. Brodeur told him to get off but by then the Moncton bench was all over it. Those penalties shouldn't happen, especially in the playoffs.

I really didn't find Fournier was that bad when he was on. I would rather play a rested Fournier than a tired top 4 guy. He also had 2 assists for his limited role.

Even though we won ... that was not a very good road game for us. We hardly had our strong forecheck going at all ... weren't playing the body ... dumped it in and waited for them to bring it out more often than not. We win when we make it difficult on the other teams D ... and I don't think we did that much last night. I think they were worn out from playing just 4 Dmen ... not from us wearing them down. I think we'll see a more solid effort tonight ... more of our typical forecheck and less waiting for CB to bring it out. CB will be coming out hard also ... they have no choice ... could be a barn burner tonight.

I wonder what the lines will be like tonight? I think that was the first time this year Adam, Lagace, MacNeil were together? Adam and Nick created some chances but Lagace? I hope Adam is put back with Horyl and Hertz. Maybe try Lagace in section 26...lol. I keep waiting and waiting for him to produce, it just amazes me what went wrong with him.
