What's the point of a message board if we're all going to "wait and see"? I see no harm in discussing the teams options right now, it's not like they'll be drastically different at Xmas. And you need to let the renovation thing go....the team wouldn't be still hiring people and still talking about hosting if they weren't going all out for it....part of me admires their drive to go for it regardless and see what happens....but the other part of me is the realist wondering why the money is being spent on a pipe dream instead of on the product which puts you in a better position to host then a 10 man front office does anyway. how do you know the teams options won't be drastically different at xmas? what if a guy like Broduer or Lagace returns? you don't think that's not drastically different? what's the point of a messageboard if I'm not allowed to have a diferent view than your sky is always falling in CB view? how much money is being spent ? how would it be better spent on the ice? I never believed for a second CB was a serious contender for the 2012 Cup.... however since they went thru with the actual bid they have to show the general public they are trying.... it's all for a possible future bid when the team will be properly set up..... that's what I mean by public perception..... Of course those players could come back, and when they do it's naturally assumed they'll be moved.....no harm in discussing them either but it's better then no discussion And enough with the sky is always falling BS. I give credit where it's due and haven't told anyone they couldn't be optimistic, i'm glad you think we'll do good but how about providing some reasons as to why before tearing down those who believe what most of the experts do....that a rookie goaltender and inexperienced blueline means a few rough nights ahead. Verroneau's going to get a chance to be a star here, there's no doubt about that.

Thank you Jack for reassuring me that there is no interest in adding Chris Doyle, if that is actually what you did. Top scorers don't always add anything positive to a team as we learned last year when the top goal scorer in the Q turned into a huge disappointment. I just really hope that the Eagles learned from the hard lessons of last season! Oh I don't know that they don't have interest, I just know there's no rumor of them showing interest

"I don't see much other movement at Christmas time. Ellis would have great value, but *if* the team is serious about the 2012 dream he'd be a key cog on that team. Even if they're not, I think we'd get even higher value for him at age 19."
I think Ellis has less value at 18 then he did at 17 or as 19 year old for the eagles. Anyone competing this year would probably be more apt to add an impact 19 year old D man, like we did with Bourdon or even like Victoriaville did with Groulx or even a Delisle to RN. Boudreau was a safe pick for victoriaville as well to help them get to the final 4. Eagles trade him this year they more than likely would get futures but that means the team they are trading to either is going for it this year or next. If that team goes for it next year they basically are cancelling themselves out. The team then trades Ellis at a 19 year old to a contender and probably gets a boat load in a return. The eagles planned to build their team around Ellis problem is they will be a .400 to .500 team this year thus losing a year from Ellis to compete and the only opportunity they had to build around him was lost the last two years. Someone should have been talked to for letting Slaney,Culligan and Haddad stick it out with the eagles knowing they had no chance in hell beating Drummondville, Rimouski or Shawininigan and someone should have been fired for not trading Adam and picking up Legault and Lagace. Last year was probably the worst i ever saw a team run and managed from top to bottom.

The team made the decision that they could compete with Moncton and St. John. The cost of trading for Lagace and Adam and Legault is going to hurt the team for the next 2 years. Will be tough to rebuild with the lack of draft picks we have.

I'm not tearing anybody down... if/when I do you'll know it believe me as for why I believe you won't be as bad as the so called "experts" suggest... because Cape Breton has proven to me over the years I've been watching that they never finish below expectations in the regular season...... even when expected to finish near the bottom... i'm not suggesting you'll be a midpack team merely saying I don't think it's a given you will finish out of the playoffs and last in the Atlantic I really don't understand why you want that conversation stifled.... with your constant telling me enough with this enough with that You want to finish dead last so you can post all year about how stupid everyone in the Eagles organization was/is and pat yourself on the back while doing so......you don't fool me for a second

And why do I WANT this team to lose? You actually think I get joy in coming here and saying this team sucks? I just try to treat my own team like I do others....if Bathurst sucked I'd have no problem saying it and I have no problem with others thinking this team will do good OR bad....I'm just curious as to the reasons why people think we'll exceed expectations because i'm not seeing many. I didn't realize it had become a what kind of Q fan you are or I am....i'll gladly concede that argument to anyone here....my interest has dropped off considerably but that doesn't mean I WANT this team to struggle....that's just not true.

Why don't you two girls take your squabble off the board... and go outside and duke it out. Let's talk about the new line up...

The eagles planned to build their team around Ellis problem is they will be a .400 to .500 team this year I'd say that's rather optimistic. 6 teams in the league last year were below .400. I find it hard to believe there will be 6 teams worse than CB this year.

If you look at 06/07 there were only 3 teams below .400 but I am kind of like Jack, lost interest this year and really have no joy in going to watch a team rebuild for all the wrong reasons especially when we don't even have a chance to get a number 1 pick/first rounder. I would have been mad if I was a drummondville fan well trading for Allen and giving up what they did.
