Ok ... that seems to be it. I'm not sure where Pickard and Richard will play once Bower, Karabacek, Murphy are back in. It looks like they are trying to build a big crash and bang 4th line with McEwen centering Cormier and Pickard (or Richard), but that looks to leave Corson and Murphy on the outside. Adding Richard makes no sense really ... but they paid a 5th for him, and he is 19, so they won't be sending him to Jr A. I don't think they can even send Pickard to Jr A without having to waive him. I don't see where Richard fits in unless maybe Karabcek, Murphy, or Bower are hurt long term. Even then we have bodies that can move up. Richard is not a crash and bang player...at all...he is similar to Leger but bigger and slower. Oh I know ... thats why I suggested Pickard was the guy designated for that role first. I don't see where Richard fits in once we are healthy. I like the acquisition of Pickard for a small price.

The Wildcats have made a few moves to try to put a semi-contender together. Luckily they didn't sell the farm to "go for it" this year. I don't think anyone could look at this team and seriously consider it a true contender. Rouyn-Noranda seems to be the team from the Q that has made the moves necessary to be the President Cup Champ. The Memorial Cup is another thing completely.

Any team winning the Presidents cup has a shot at the Memorial cup...but the MC has a lot more luck...who is hot at the time and ho gets the bounces as they are one game elimination.

Corson has been sent to Jr.A...smells like a bust when you get replaced by a guy with one goal in 35 games.

I'd rather have a 17yo playing lots of minutes in Jr A than sitting more than half the time. You have to think Corson is targeted to play top-6, but he's not ready. Losing basically his entire 16yo season had to hurt his development.

He didn't exactly light it up in limited time in MAAA last year.

He only played 9 games in MAAA (4 pts), and 2 in the Q last year. That's basically losing a whole year. I think that if he didn't warrant a regular spot this year, he should have played Jr A all season.

The thing with Corson was that they picked him much higher than projected based on them perceiving he had a higher ceiling ... Coming into his first camp at 16, he was not as good/polished/developed/close to being ready as most other 2nd round picks were ... Then he lost basically his entire 16 year old season to injury, which set him that much further behind other players in his draft class ... now he comes in this fall, as a 17 year old rookie, having basically never played above the high school level ... he was handed a spot on the team that he really wasn't ready for - at no point did he really look like a QMJHL player, let alone a future star. I am not sure he is even ready to be a key junior A player at this point. Where are they sending him?

We seem to be getting rid of all our young players (Jacob, Leger, Crossman, Dupre, Keblansky (although not as young as others) and now Corson). I thought they were a big part of the WC's future.

Some shaky drafting the past couple of years ... We haven't had a lot of picks to begin with, but we seemed to have whiffed on a number of our higher picks ... for example, when we traded up to pick Corson - the very next player drafted was Reilly Pickard ...

Klebanskyj is 19, he won't be in the league next year. I think some of the young guys were rushed while others lost time to FA and trades.

You clearly have an axe to grind with this team ... thats fine. Every year, every team in the Q gets rid of "younger players" because they just don't make the team. Some get kept and later released ... some get demoted and recalled later ... some get traded. Crossman asked to be traded ... so did Leger (not a younger player) ... the best thing you can do for everybody involved is grant that wish. Dupre is 18 ... not a younger player ... and became the 3rd goalie. If he could provide us #1 quality goaltending he'd still be here doing it ... but he couldn't. BMD proved to be more reliable. Almost all teams carry just 2 goaltenders ... do the math. He was traded for another goalie so that we'd have a 3rd goalie playing nearby for easier call-ups and can work with our goalie Coach. Klebanskyj is 19 ... not a younger player. He was actually moved out to make room for two YOUNGER PLAYERS. We are keeping those two younger players even though it seems to you that we aren't. Corson has not been released ... just demoted so he can get icetime. With the addition of Karabecek, Pickard, Richard, and the eventual return of Bower and Murphy (younger guy still with us), icetime for Corson was going to become tough to come by. This is the best option for him. He can still be recalled.
