I know you didn't say it, but it is OK to like sports other than hockey. All the sports fans are into the World Cup and probably Lebron James' next destination, meanwhile sportsnet and tsn are having daily clickbait wars on Tavares. There's a difference in liking them and supporting them. Most local sports fans are into more then 1 sport but how many actually attend live sporting events? If your market became over-saturated with local sports then the Mooseheads product could take a huge hit in attendance and revenue like other junior teams face in large markets in Canada where there is various combinations of CFL, NHL, NLL, NBL, AHL, minor league baseball, etc. I agree with that, let the chips fall where they may I guess. The Mooseheads have had it really good with having no sports competition. They will likely continue to be my local hockey fix come playoff time.

I can't see the Moose taking a back seat to NLL, while it would be great to see pro lacrosse again, it just doesn't have the base support that any other sport does here. I've been to 2 jr B national championships and in St Catherens, Ontario. They had a jam packed arena and the local TV to see them play us. That tourney we were an all star team of NS and NB, but we were terrible not really any competition.
A couple years ago we hosted the Jr B championships in Halifax and I have to say they have gotten really good in the area and while the crowd wasn't bad it was still not very good. Maybe in another 10 years when some of the kids playing now are having kids and making more money the roots need to grow more I think. Makes me miss coaching and playing a lot talking about it, what a great community.

Heard some more rumblings about an NLL team in Halifax this morning. Saw this tweet as well about the history of NLL franchises:
Hopefully with no major pro competition in the winter/spring, a team in Halifax would be here for the long term.

Played in a masters tourny last weekend Lacrosse has some decent grass roots here this could help that a lot.
Also a interesting tid bit there is someonw from Nova Scotia on Jr team Canada. Not since the 70's have we had a player of that caliber when we won the silver in the Canada games.
If you have never seen a Lacrosse game before it is like a cross between hockey and Basketball. Offence runs like basketball 30 second clock, setting picks to get open shots. Also of coarse a goalie with a crease etc like hockey.

I have never seen a live lacrosse game...well on TV. Not even sure of the rules. Love the name as well. No Season Tickets for me but I would definitely go to games. I wonder what kind of attendance they need to break even.

I wonder what kind of attendance they need to break even. Indoor lacrosse is very fast-paced and surprisingly physical. More goals scored than in hockey. I don't know what they would need to break even (I don't even know that stat for the Mooseheads... I had heard 4500 with their most recent arena deal but that might not be accurate). I do know they only play 9 regular season home games. An article from earlier this year said the average league attendance floats between 9000 and 9700. But there are major cities in North America that have teams in this, so I wouldn't expect Halifax's attendance to match them... at least right out of the gate. www.insidelacrosse.com/article/stats-central-attendance-trends-of-the-nll/51444I guess attendance will depend on a number of factors, including strength of the team out of the gate. I don't know if this is an expansion franchise, or if one is moving. I'd imagine if it is an expansion team, they'll instantly make the championship game like Vegas. It will be interesting to see Halifax be a little fish in a big pond. We're used to being at the top in terms of attendance. But we'll be one of the smallest cities in this league.

Assuming there are no futures deals, they're going to have quite a few impact players returning like Lavoie, Parent, Groulx, Barinka, McIsaac, Barron, Gravel... possibly Fagemo. They'll have Dube in his 2nd year. They're losing Ryczek, Maher, Morand, Durandeau, whoever their 3rd 20yo is, and possibly Chainey if he's signed. They should be pretty good, and I don't know if the Moose brass would pull the trigger on a fire sale if they are above .500 at Christmas. Imagine if they did though.... the Moose would have more 1st round picks than they'd know what to do with. Anyway, topic for another thread. I'm always a bit concerned about saturation. The Mooseheads are my team, and no lacrosse team, basketball team or CFL team is ever going to change that. So I always hope the Mooseheads get people's money before anything else. Junior hockey struggles in bigger markets like Montreal and Toronto because there's much, much more that people can spend their money on. The Mooseheads thrive because they are The team here in Halifax. Adding pro sports could take some money out of their pockets.

I am excited about this. Have no idea about the rules of the game, but I think with only 9 home games I would by Season Tickets. Wonder what kind of price they will have for tickets.

Just checked out ticket prices in Saskatchewan and I was surprised how expensive they were. Looks like Lower Bowl Season Tickets were over $500 for the 9 games. They even had premium seats that were as high as $700. I guess this is professional so you are paying for that. Looks like $62 for a lower bowl single game ticket. Not sure about those Season Tickets now.
