Just saw the highlights. Crowd looked extremely small. I expected them to draw at least 7000 for the franchise opener. That is not a good sign. 6847 was the reported attendance for the game.. don’t know how many were actually there though but that’s a pretty good turnout IMO.

NLL has teams that average down to 3-4k so I think it's pretty good.
The question is, was the game fun? Did fans seem to like it?
I can tell you the livestream of the game on Bleacher Report was awful. I see there's music that plays through the game like the Hurricanes which I don't know how to feel and some of the music on the playlist like "Gangnam Style" is kinda awful. The overall gameplay is pretty fun and interesting I love how rough the sport and how much risk factors are in play, and the 30 second possession countdown is pretty interesting, I had no clue that was a thing. Hope to see a game and I hope those prices drop a bit because this isn't gonna work if they don't. The date for the home opener wasn't the best either considering University Students are taking their exams and such. Though if they keep winning I expect we keep a stable 5-6k attendance. Possibly 3-4k on some nights which is still inside the NLL attendance averages. And who knows maybe once people start learning about it more and the years the Mooseheads suck the attendance goes up. I love it's not strictly a canadian league either its even between american and canadian. Anyways great game! #FeelTheThunder #LetsGoThunderbirds

Like you said not the best night for it, I went to a Christmas party at the world trade and convention centre left just after 6 took us quite awhile to get over the McDonald bridge, because of the traffic don't forget the Christmas tree lighting and fireworks were at Sullivan's pond last night. Numerous Christmas parties because it's December and the Thunderbirds home opener. And then they decide to put the McKay bridge down to oe lane around 7 last night. I'm. glad to see the Scotiabank centre doing so well and being so busy, with 3 professional teams and concerts there never going to have down time anymore, I hear they play music the whole game which I'm not sure how to feel about although I guess it's.a different kind of atmosphere, and tickets are expensive but just watch for sales they had a sale on last night's game for Black Friday. (I wouldn't mind seeing one just to say I've experienced a Lacrosse game), interesting note I read in the paper on Friday there's actually one Thunderbird that actually lives in Halifax, most of them have 9-5 full time jobs you'd think they'd be paid better if its a professional league. I read they fly them in Thurs or Friday for their home games. (And my guess not sure is they probably take regular flights and don't have a private jet)

Based on the eye estimate I would say 4000 max were at the game. Papering the seats with corporate money/giveaways adds nothing to the game experience. This is the most hype they will ever have and they draw 4000? That's not good. Im scared to see how many people come to the next game as it's usually a big drop off in this scenario. I wish the team nothing but success but you'd think they should be able to nearly sell out the Scotiabank Centre for a franchise home opener. I don't know if there's going to be an appetite for professional lacrosse in Halifax given these ticket prices. The truth is, the average person in this region has LESS expendable money than ever before due to societal/economic factors, and the people in this city that typically do have the expendable income, are typically foreigners. This isn't a xenophobic statement or opinion about immigration. My business partner is Lebanese and my fiance is in the process of immigrating to Canada. But the truth is the people with wealth in this area are generally not from this country and I don't think they give a single fuck about lacrosse.

The Mooseheads averaged less than 4000 their first season, and then gradually moved up to the 6000-8000 average they have now. Give it time. Not only does the city have to get used to top league for top dollar, but they also have to buy into lacrosse. Whether they succeed or not, I know the answer isn't going to be seen in a game, or even a season. It'll take 2 or 3 years IMO. Unsure the flexibility for losses from the ownership group, but hopefully they have a plan to deal with growing pains.

I hope it succeeds. At the same time, I have never met anyone who ever watched or followed Lacrosse. So this is all surprising to me.

I hope it succeeds. At the same time, I have never met anyone who ever watched or followed Lacrosse. So this is all surprising to me. I may have watched a couple games back when the Toronto Rock were good. I went to the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships with my father when they were here, and had a great time. It's a sport that people aren't going to know they like until they watch it, whereas hockey seems to be fused in sports fans around here. I think if you like hockey, you'll like lacrosse. But getting people to their first game to see something they've never seen before, for pro-level pricing, could be challenging. By no means am I complaining about pricing. Pro team = pro level pricing. Halifax is the little fish in the big pond with lacrosse. We're the Baie-Comeau / Val d'Or / Bathurst of the NLL if you will. Can't complain about pricing when we don't have the population of major cities to use to make a profit. I'm ignoring Saskatoon having less people, as Saskatchewan sports fans are nuts and support anything.

4-0 Great win over Colorado last night, this team is for real. The Mammoth are a really strong team beating some of the best teams in the league already this season, while we had a cake schedule to start the season, this was our first real test and I have to say bring on San Diego.

San Diego was a challenge but the Birds prevailed they are 5-0 and Sand Diego is 1-5, they now don't play at home till Feb 15. I'd love to know their attendance for their games at home because the crowd is very engaged and the product is fun to watch. I'm sure they had 7,000 tonight and they probably had that last Sat too.
