I was going to pass on the games for now because of the price but when I was able to buy basically my Moosehead's Season Ticket seats for the first game I decided to go for it. It was $157 for my two seats for 1 game. I am actually really looking forward to it. I have never watched a lacrosse game and I am not even sure of the rules. Unless I overlooked things, I only saw 9 homes games listed. Each home game is also spaced out by a couple of weeks each. I was thinking that this was good because maybe people will be able to spread out the cost over a period of time instead of having like back to back weekend games. I would never be able to afford that. I really hope this goes over but I will be really embarrassed for the city if the place is half empty every game. I'm sure the Thunderbirds can bring in around 6,000 to 9,000 fans a game which is pretty close to what the Mooseheads get but should be a little better. It's again what you said only like 9 regular season games too. The weekday games could be extremely weak fans wise though. Hope a game doesn't drop under 5,000. Looking at this site: d15k3om16n459i.cloudfront.net/prostats/attendance.html?leagueid=230&seasonid=18464I believe the Thunderbirds range above Vancouver by a couple hundred fans, maybe pass San Diego maybe mix into that average of 6,000 with teams. Pretty awesome we get a team that's located coast to coast over North America! From Vancouver, San Diego, Georgia, then up to Halifax. Hope it's entertaining, Box Lacrosse nets look very cheap and weird lol. Gonna have to watch some videos and learn the rules and the stats of players in the NLL! I'm also dying to see an NLL Box Lacrosse fight lol

As with most expansion teams, i'm sure the attendance will be healthy for the first few games then fade off from there. They will have to work towards building a loyal fanbase through in-game experience and ultimately fielding a competitive team that can win some games. Typically the difference between a successful and unsuccessful expansion (or relocation) team is early success.
I would definitely check out a game but i'll be away for the 5 months the regular season runs. Best of luck to this franchise! Halifax needs this to be a hit to get in the conversation for an NHL franchise in the next 10-20 years.

I dont think this will avg above 3500 fans per game. I hope it does but this will not get those numbers like places where its established out of the gate. They will have to give away tickets to get people in to watch lacrosse for the first time.

Halifax needs this to be a hit to get in the conversation for an NHL franchise in the next 10-20 years. This could be the best story in NLL history and it wouldn't help your cause of ever getting an NHL team. We literally have former NHL cities with brand new rinks who can't get a team in Canada already. The Halifax's, Hamilton's, Saskatoon's of the country are never going to see NHL hockey.

They will have to give away tickets to get people in to watch lacrosse for the first time. The prices are too high too soon. If they put a 3 year plan in place to gradually get there with a mindset towards more butts in the seats early on then they may have created some hype that would have allowed ticket prices to inflate over time. By starting too high they're only targeting certain demographics and that will hurt in the long run. No matter how successful the is standings wise it ends up compared to $20 Q games for entertainment purposes in the same market. For a sport very few play and even less follow on a larger scale. I see it being a tough sell.

When that day comes (may be 20 years away) they may need to rethink the one market for each team. Maybe they will have relegation leagues etc but the system as it is will need to change before the NHL gets in 40 cities.

Especially in 20-30 years as air travel continues to improve. I think the best you can hope for under your model is an AHL team as a feeder for a bigger cities team.

The easiest way to think about the Lacrosse rules are this, the offense is Basketball except you shoot on a goalie. Full contact but if you hit someone while the ball is loose it is a change in possession. Most of the penalties are like Hockey.

We have a team that is likely in the top half of the league, one of the top 10 players in the league as well as the 2 time reigning defensive player of the year. A few other very good players as well. I expect us to be very competitive, on top of that we likely have the most winning owner in the league.

I see it being a tough sell. They constantly have promotions for cheaper tickets, I got some during the free game for 23 dollars, and you can get upper bowl for 11. They have a Rivalry pack which is 3 games I forget what the price is but I consider that to be a good price as well. Honestly I don't think its beneficial to be a season ticket holder, they put out ticket promo's all season.

5,000 last night at a scrimmage not bad The game was pretty good too, some highlight reel type of goals, and it wasn't even played super serious defensively. The 1 knock I do have and other people will disagree I'm sure is they play music all game long. It is a mix of music and not too current they will even allow you to start making requests online before games. That being said I feel it takes away from the experience myself, however I can see how kids /casual fans may enjoy it.

5,000 last night at a scrimmage not bad i reckon there was probably closer to 7000 since the lower bowl was full and there were people in the upper bowl

Just saw the highlights. Crowd looked extremely small. I expected them to draw at least 7000 for the franchise opener. That is not a good sign.
