CEO of the new Halifax Lacrosse team was on the Rick Howe show. He stated they would need attendance of 6500 - 7500 to break even. That is doable considering it is only 9-10 games a year. I was thinking about this and the place only seats 10,595..something like that for hockey. So there is a very small margin to make money and that is only if they sell out or close to sell out every game. Maybe he wasn't being honest about the break even attendance.

It's a really tough number to pin down exactly. What if you have 6500 fans but 2000 of them are kids? It really comes down to a dollar value per game. That value is probably where he got that range from. If he had said "We need to bring in $200,000 gross per game in ticket sales to break even", that number isn't as relatable to the general public as attendance figures would be, even though it has the potential to be far more accurate. If junior hockey didn't exist, I'm not sure the Scotiabank Centre would've gotten the upgrades that it got. Similarly, if lacrosse takes off and Halifax sells out every game with ease, then perhaps an arena expansion or a new arena comes out of it. Or maybe the city would be happy to have a tenant that is guaranteed to sell out every game and just leave things be.

Not sure I see a world in the next 5 years where we sell out for lacrosse, however that being said the Rush are the smallest City in the NLL and they have the highest attendance. I think they need to be smart with tickets and creative and I think they can settle in on a 8 thousand mark with a thousand maybe being discounted tickets. I also don't know how big the Mill Brook community is, however I think they may have a decent number in attendance because the owner has some connection there. If I were them I would maybe consider some sort of shuttle from Truro, where they do have some lacrosse outside of the Millbrook community as well.
The big thing is they need to help grow the current community with kids, the local Jr Highs have or did have a lacrosse league. Give tickets to a different team each game or something, they may have to take it on the chin a bit with likely unsold tickets to get more people interested.

Ticket Prices
$339-650
Lower bowl corner is like $427+ tax
9 regular season games and 1 playoff game
I really feel like the tickets may actually be worth it, however I think they are going to be a hard sell.

Hard to tell unless we actually see the product and see the experience for ourselves. Which I guess is the point. We have little to go by here in Halifax as a comparison. I assume the $74.75 / Game tickets (650 * 1.15 / 10) are premium lower bowl seats. $38.99 / game for the cheapest seats is far more expensive than I was picturing, and that's season ticket prices and not single game ticket prices. The Saskatchewan Rush's ticket prices: www.saskrush.com/seasontickets2018Right around the same. Their lowest prices are lower because they have a bigger rink and the sightlines might be worse (don't laugh). But they have a bigger rink so they can have cheaper tickets and make the same amount of money.

They interviewed a player on CTV Atlantic. I guess he just signed a long term contract knowing they were coming to Halifax. That is good. He said it will be an easier adjustment because basically the whole team will be coming. These tickets might be out of my price range. I would love to get Season Tickets but I guess the Moosehead's will get my money...and I have to save some money for the Atlantic Schooners . Not sure how much I will get out to the Wanderers, but they would be on the bottom of my list.

As someone who loves Lacrosse and can't wait to watch it, buying these tickets will be a hard pill even tho I will still get them. They really need some cheapish kids tickets, I mean if your trying to grow your fan base here I think you need to commit to that.

They are streaming the games at The Pint, a bunch of lax people including myself watched the Knighthawks beat the wings in their home opener. That being said don't order the food, has to be the worst food I have ever had from a bar.

Boooooooo
Seattle Thunderbirds? They couldn't come up with an original name?
What happened to the Privateers? I would definitely buy something with the Halifax Privateers on it but not a cartoon character bird on it.

I suspect thunderhawk, nighthawk etc etc all have some sort of relevance to the owners aboriginal heritage.

Didn't know the owner was Aboriginal...maybe that is why they didn't go with Privateers.

Hate the name Thunderbirds I also hate the colors orange and purple and I have to say the Merch they have is cheap. Not that I would be wearing a purple or orange sweater anyway.
