I don't think it will go through. Even Matt Whittman seems to have backed off going for it in one of his recent Rick Howe appearances. So now even YOU are listening to Matt Whittman? I think he is an asshole. But of everyone on council, he or David Hendsbee were the biggest supporters. If they lose his vote, that is one less vote where it could be tight.

Mike Savage was saying on Rick Howe show this morning that the Halifax CFL football group is presenting something to City Council on Oct 30.

I think it just means the Staff Report will be presented that day.

It sounds like the Government was more tied into this one then what the plan is in Halifax. I am hoping that it would be financed by private investors. If its not then this is a very scary article for the City Councillors to be reading.

Looks like Shannon Park might be the proposed Stadium site after all. 24,000 seat stadium would cost between 170 and 190 Million.
It's always the same major argument with Shannon Park: What's around it? There are no restaurants other than the Ship Victory, and no hotels within walking distance. The city would have to build major road infrastructure to get to the stadium from the bridge and from the 111. It would look aesthetically pleasing next to the MacKay Bridge. But that's the only positive I can see from this site as opposed to Dartmouth Crossing, which are building the hotels and already have a ton of restaurants.
I really hope they get plenty of consultations for this. They have to go all in with the whole experience, and not just build a stadium in the middle of no where with no accommodations or other sources of entertainment.

Well they said previously that they were looking at having a development with residential and business tied in with the stadium. Seems like the residential part of it would fit better in the Shannon Park development then Dartmouth Crossing. Having dwellings situated in an Industrial Park doesn't seem to make sense. I am really hoping they aren't asking for a significant amount of money from the Government because this will definitely poo poo things. They mentioned on ATV News that they would start taking orders for season tickets in November.

You could build the stadium and lots of new apartments and condos around it so the area would be filled with people from 25-50. Have bars/restaurants on the ground floor of these buildings. I'm pretty sure this is the plan for Shannon Park regardless of whether or not there is a stadium. But I'm still against this, that is a lot of money. As always, if it is such a good investment, the owner would do it themselves.

Big day for this project. Stadium proposal is presented to city council today. With council's approval, there will be a start of a season-ticket drive and the dreaded naming contest.
I know the most online discussion about this and other goings on in Halifax are on the skyscraper page. That and Reddit are very good resources for this type of discussion. I see a couple familiar names on the skyscraper page.

The "no's" seem more vocal so far. So are they saying that Council could turn this down today and that is it....the Maritime Football Group walks away and that is it. All that work is gone down the drain? Or then they go to Moncton and they get the team.

Skyscraper has very little local sports discussion, but quite a few people on there have insider info and insight on infrastructure projects in different cities in Canada and around the world. I don't know what happens today if city council says no. My guess is it will be a yes with conditions, and it will be up to the ownership group to counter if they want.

From what I understand it should be a yes to go to the next step. Which what I understood to just basically be getting more information. It’s not like they say yes then shovels are in the ground tomorrow. There’s basically 3 or 4 steps, this is step one and unless what is brought forth is so bad usually gets passed to the next step. Step 3 is where it either lives or dies really. I believe the next step is find out the land cost and who gets what. The team or group doesn’t even own any land little lone Shannon park area they are now talking about.
