Nice opening day win for the Jays today.
Found the game very entertaining. Looking forward to Saturday's game.

Jays are gonna be fun to watch . Love the nucleus of young kids . Julian Merriweather's Closing out of the Game was rather impressive .

He never was a great starter but earned his reputation as an Innings Eater who allowed you to give your Bullpen an Easy Day.......but he ate his fill in Washington I think and it's showing . Once Robbie Ray's Elbow comes around you may see him DFAed and he will go to his Local ATM and Smile about the Whole Blue Jay Experience .

Ray is not much better, a guy who walks 6 per 9 IP is not a winning recipe in the AL East.

His walk numbers are lower before last year although still nothing terrific. Ray has a much higher strikeout rate so he would still be an improvement over Roark. Ideally Roark is not in the rotation in the next month or so barring some dramatic turnaround.

What a show by Vladdy last night ... one month into the season, he is second in the AL in OBP and OPS, 3rd in batting and slugging, tied for HR lead and 4th in RBIs ... more BB than Ks ... Quite the breakout, silencing any critics.

Quite the breakout, silencing any critics. You can see his focus at the plate has greatly improved. Based on how he looked in Spring, you could see a big improvement was coming. I think the weight gain last year affected his swing plane to where he was getting under and on top off pitches too much. He is squaring them up now and looks like he has a plan at the plate. On that note, it would help some others to get a plan when at the plate (cough BO cough). They are loaded with offensive talent, but are bailing out pitchers too often by swinging too freely. I honestly think the Jays run away with the division this year, barring significant injuries (cough Ryu cough). They still have to get Springer and Teoscar (back) in the lineup. Bo will get better, and Biggio is going back to being picky again which better suits him. They haven't had Pearson or Yates yet, Romano SHOULD be much better at some point, and of course if Merryweather can get healthy again, he was outstanding. The rest of the bullpen has been very good so far, and a "bullpen game" now and then isn't a disaster at all. Defense is an issue (left side). I wish they could keep Espinal at 3rd or SS most games, he is a run saver. But of course when at full strength, it's hard to get him in regularly. Exciting team to watch though

We shall see. It's my gut feeling after looking at the division so far, and who they can still add to the roster.

I know it's still early and they were missing Springer, but an 11-11 start doesn't scream "running away with the division".

Because the hottest teams after 22 games always end up winning the division? Still a ton of baseball left...
