Even say if you could get Dubois for JKK, Mete and a 1st(or top prospect)...you still need 14 day quarantine for both players. That means missing 6-7-8 games for players on both sides in a 56 game season. You need to manage your long term without taking short term quarantines into account. You're acquiring a Dubois for the next 10 years. The next 2 weeks don't mean much with that perspective. If that means you ride with a little less depth for 2 weeks...so be it. Taxi squads mean you'll at least have bodies at your disposal. I could see the case from a Habs standpoint with Suzuki and Danault already the top 2 guys. CBJ might not be as willing to take that chance, Dubois being their top guy and having a pile of top guys potentially UFA's the next 2 years.

Very impressed by Romanov. As Bois mentioned, he and Suzuki are untouchable in my eyes.
Personally, I have no use for Mete. I'd move him for a 4th.

Habs looked Solid last night .It's still early but there is no doubting the impact of the additions the Habs have made to their Lineup .They are playing Vancouver "AGAIN" on Saturday Night and we "MIGHT" get to see some payback for a hit by Tyler Myers on Joel Armia that was a result of frustration at the Night's events but don't lose sight of the ...frquency of games against repeat opponents generating that edginess amongst the Players .
* On a Side Note Pierre Luc Dubois played a Handful of Shifts in the First Period , less than 4 Minutes for Columbus last night , then never seen the Ice again . Torts said he is "Calling it as he Sees it" ...PLD refused to speak the Media after the game , just adding fuel to the fire down there . How did this go so sour so fast ? Is it Torts style that Dubois wants no part of ? Is Dubois a Thin Skinned Pampered Sort ? Is it an Off Ice Issue ? It can't be as Simple as $$$$$$$ . Any thoughts that the Habs may be looking at him has me thinking .......As an Ex Eagle who I loved watching , I would love to see him in Montreal........but then I find myself looking at Drouin ( who I was not a fan of ) and getting these thoughts about another French Kid coming Home to a Bunch of Fanfare and it not going well . One things for sure , this situation in Columbus doesn;t appear to be going away and may have becomes Unfixable . Stay Tuned .....

Myers should be suspended for multiple games, it was a cheap shot with the game out of reach, he threw a blindside hit to the head on a player that was already in a battle with two others. If the NHL is serious about head shots, he should get minimum 5 games. Vancouver is really missing Markstrom, their defense is terrible and they are giving up a ton of QS, having watched 2 games of Hughes, he is good with the puck but a train wreck without it. Going to be a lot of high scoring games in the Canadian division.

And not at what it would cost. And not in this shortened season. I mean would they "want" him sure they would. But I have watched lots of Nick Suzuki games at both levels. (The name most floated that Columbus wants back) Just dont move that player. He also fits in well with the Habs. (I am not a Canadiens follower/partisan - I am stating this from the outside) I think Suzuki has some leadership traits that can be developed too. In the short season by the time Dubois quarantines and then gets acclimated to a new system and team the cost is way too much. And Duby wants out of Columbus. Doesnt necessarily mean he will fit under the next coach or on the home team. And he would shoulder immense expectations. If its between him and Suzuki straight up I think Suzuki has way fewer question marks.and I know nothing goes straight up one for one.

Torts is going on radio basically calling him dishonest for not telling the team his true reason for wanting out and threatening to not play him in key situations. Now he's half assing it because the last thing he wants to do is play for Torts and allow his play to give Torts any satisfaction. Together they're both screwing that organization over with their ego's in my opinion.

Now I know that the NHL is trying to get this type of hit out of the Game ...there just seems to be no real solution .....Multiple Offenders with Multiple Offences writing out Multiple Cheques for Increasing Amounts of Money may be addressing it but not stopping it . So what else is there ? The idea of an eye for an eye as retribution in a sporting event just has to stop. The 1970's and 1980's mentally fucked up an entire generation of hockey fans for making that type of reaction seem normal. You can't help that people will do dirty/borderline dirty hits. That hit was dirty. But what I mean is that with the clearly dirty are the borderline dirty and the reaction to both can't be to have people fight in response. Just suspend Myers for 8 games. Next time they play if Armia wants to fight him to get his retribution the risk is another concussion and him missing even more time. In society if I take a golf club and put the windows out of your car you can absolutely steal my golf club and hit me with it and kill me but we're both in the wrong and you're probably going to jail. In hockey for some reason we want incidents to escalate and everyone to get retribution for even hits that are fair but end up hurting people. Just take the initial hit and penalize it. The idea that you need some sort of revenge is on you. Win the game and move on. There's your revenge. The place fighting has in the game is not close to what the "fighting to respond to questionable play" crowd thinks it does. But the fact there's no fighting, teams dont go find goons and require players who can all actually play, but there is also not near the amount of dirty play that we seen just 10 years ago still falls on deaf ears of people like yourself is just mind blowing to me. Take your 5min pp, win the game 7-3. Move on. At some point that bad hit will be going in the other direction and it will be your player doing it. And the answer has to stop being "well punch them then and try and knock them out!" as if thats solving anything.

No excuse for that kind of effort. But the shift comes after Torts went on radio and basically said he has no reason to play him above those who want to be there. They're hurting each other with their stubborness and by speaking out in the media. This is going to hurt the entire team as its a huge distraction only a few games in. At the end of it Columbus won't have either and will still be a clusterfuck nobody wants to stay and play for long term. Jarmo Kekalainen should fire one and trade the other in my opinion. Neither is good for the long term health of that franchise now.

But what if Dubois gets the message. Plays better. I find these lame duck players sometimes play their best as they try to raise their value because they really want out.
Torts has to play and push the players he has. And we don't know the rest of the dynamic in the room. The players in that room also have to hold guys to account.
If Torts (of any coach) didnt do some of these things it send the wrong message to accountable players. Players in that room like Jones, Werenski, Texier will think the coach isn't letting some guy off because he is an elite player. Common goal.
I have seen this help a team (and yeah it sometimes hurts).

Neither is good for the long term health of that franchise now. Agreed - it is a toxic mess. I think it has reached the point that one or the other has to go - possibly before their next game. Although, food for thought, not sure Kekalainen is free of blame here - he is also developing a bit of a reputation of being an asshole with his players. I don't think Dubois' issue is uniquely with Tortorella, there seem to be multiple issues at play, including with the front office. And he isn't the first one in Columbus ... some will say the players are prima donnas, but I find it unlikely that the players in Columbus are anymore egotistical than in the rest of the league - the difference is how things are being handled and the lack of people skills employed by both the coach and GM.
