Will this be their year? Gotta love Vladdy hitting it out of the stadium in his first at bat of the spring ... he is ready for opening day!

Not a bad deal, pretty much what he would have gotten through arb but this way they know their cost going forward. I believe he is a FA at the end on 2023?

I'll never understand MLB arbitration. Teams submitting offers like $200K below the players ask. In a sport where teams are paying retired players more than entire 2022 payrolls thanks to deferred money.
Atlanta offered Riley 3.95...he asked for 4.2. Fried 6.85 vs his ask of 6.6.
The Atlanta Braves had a 9 (!!!) figure profit last season.

(vs NHL where the arbitrator can choose or make up any number between the 2 numbers) So it's possible, maybe even likely, that the numbers submitted to the arbitrator were never actually offered to the other side in negotiations. With their arbitration numbers, neither side wants to come in too far off what the arbitrator might deem as a reasonable number, thus having him pick the other side's number.

But I also know some players view it as petty business decisions which means it can cost you that player in 2-3 years when they see an open market in front of them. As a fan its hard to make sense of such a small difference in money being worth seeing an arbitrator about.

Blue Jays young prospect, Orelvis Martinez, 20yrs old, is having himself a nice pre-season so far. Yeah looks like a stud. Solid build, tons of power, good eye at the plate. Excited to get the season going. The offense will put up some crooked numbers. I suspect this will be the most common lineup while healthy. Springer Bichette Guerrero Teoscar Gurriel Chapman Kirk Grichuk Biggio

He’s a SS right now but will get 3B reps at AA. Third appears to be his long term home. He’s two years away and they’ve got Chapman for two years so the timing fits.

Springer Bichette Guerrero Teoscar Gurriel Chapman Kirk Grichuk Biggio Randal Grichuk has been dealt to Colorado for OF Ramiel Tapia. There were rumours the Jays were interested in Brett Gardiner as a 5th OF with speed off the bench. Tapia will fill that role. Jays saving about 5 million which gives them about 25 million to play with if they want to stay under budget. Michael Conforto could be a target here as the big LHB in the middle of the lineup.
