Maybe it will give him extra energy for the playoffs.

What response should there be? It was a 2 minute penalty not called with an unfortunate result. It wasnt blatantly malicious and an attempt to injury in my opinion. It was an awkward situation in an awkward position on the ice. I dont think it warrants any NHL response.

Maybe it will give him extra energy for the playoffs. He should ship a case to Slafkovsky to see if it will generate some regular season energy.

is enough time passed to ask Leaf fans their thoughts on the off season additions now?
Domi, Bertuzzi, Klingberg and Reaves
I'd suggest none of them are replacing anything they lost

They are in denial about last night with Marchand , even if you are of the opinion that it wasn't intentional , why no Teamates on the ice did anything is beyond me .

Bertuzzi especially...looks nothing like he did last year. Expected a guy on a 1 year deal to have a huge season. He was invisible last night.

Hasn't underachieving sort of been the theme of Bertuzzi's career, other than relatively brief stretches when he figures out how to put it together?

You still think the sport is played like its 1975. "even if it wasn't intentional..." says it all. What were his teammates on the ice going to do? Take a 5 minute major for a non-penalty call? Even if it wasnt intentional? It was a tripping penalty. The injury sucks. But i'm past the point of explaining to you why non-intentional hits to injure don't need intentional hits to injure as some form of pay back. Marchand is greasy and carries a reputation. You can argue all day that he 100& intended that. And argue all day tomorrow that he didn't. You can find lots of Leaf fans crying about the lack of a physical response to the hit all over the internet. People seem to think a Ryan Reaves is anything but a side show to act as a deterrent who cant even play a regular shift because he's that much of a liability. 7:35 ice time last night. 3 year contract. And nobody playing any bigger because he's around.

Yes it has but going to Boston last year lit a fire under him. If not producing I at least expecting a little more of a physical/on the edge player. But he's mostly been quiet.

I just watched the Video a half a dozen times and now I believe it was intentional and that Marchand knew exactly what he was doing . The placement of the stick is the key to the whole thing .

I see it as Marchand going for the puck and due to the angle his stick going forward hits Liljegrens left leg because as both were slowing down there was nowhere else for Marchands stick to go at that point because they were already locked up. But still...how many times are people needing to watch it to determine the intent? And the intent still isnt a trying to injure the other guy its a positioning thing where the momentum causes awkward movements into the boards. I'm not even arguing it wasnt a penalty. I thought it was. This intentional attempt to injure...I dont think its that obvious. And why expecting a big response in that moment in that game just seems silly to me. Put yourself short handed to the best team in hockey to prove the refs missed a call doesnt seem that great to me.

It's a game in October not in the final 12 games down the stretch ? It makes them look weak whether it's 1975 or 2023 .
