Simon's bribing the voters? Lol These rankings mean nothing, but #1 in the country when they're 2nd in their own division? They're a top 10 team without question but #1? Currently third in the Eastern conference and the QMJHL...

Its almost like the 3 stars at the end of a game....its more of a random popularity contest that some times makes perfect sense and others it seems like too much thought has gone into it. Agree, I think the top ten are probably correct but as to what order they should be, it doesnt really matter.

For me, it’s a who really cares situation? It’s simply a ranking of who they think the 10 best teams are right now, the order is completely irrelevant. The only thing is that when you rank them 1-10 in “order”, instead of say alphabetical, you may drive some engagement from fans and give a team an opportunity to use it in a marketing promotion. Say you’re Baie-Comeau and Halifax is ranked #1, if there was game before the next rankings you could promote the crap out of the fact the #1 team in the country is coming to town and maybe you could get out some more fans who want to see two highly ranked teams compete. What gets me excited to go watch a game at this point, is either highly touted NHL prospects (drafted or draft eligible) and two really good teams playing (which usually means future NHLers). I’d probably fall under the casual fan tag at this point, I don’t attend a lot of games but I do follow the league closely so maybe not the true definition of a casual fan but these matchups are what would get me to take in a game. Win or lose, the result is probably irrelevant to a casual fan, they just want to be entertained and a good game between 2 good teams is a better way to do it then getting someone to spend their money on a game that’s 9-1. If these rankings help get fans in the seat of a game (provided it’s marketed correctly) then so be it.
