Regariding Peddle, I posted on the Isles board sometime last week....I agree 100%. Right age. High potential. Would be a great fit for the Isles. I see Peddle as a better fit in CB. I can't see a Horth for Peddle deal. I see Horth's value at most a 2nd and 3rd. More logical to me would be 19 yo Houde plus 2nd and 3rd for Peddle. Much along the value of the Collard trade who 3rd overall in that draft. And Collard is having a better season. That also would I believe reunite Peddle with a player or two from AAA. Back to this again? Peddle is a non-fit for CB. 18 months ago he and his family wanted nothing to do with the organization. Why would that have changed now? If he is acquired and pouts you might as well put locks on the doors at C200. Why would anyone support the team at that point?

It looks like bad management on both sides. Shawinigan had 18yo Braillard that they released to add 20 yo Barbashev. Braillard had 4 points in 7 games with the Cataractes. He has 16 points in 11 games with Lethbridge in the WHL while Barbashev didn't have the impact they expected. Rimouski is trading away a European who had 23 goals in his rookie season at 17. He's having a tough 2nd season so far but so does Barbashev. Both teams want to host the Memorial Cup in 2025 and both thought it was a good idea to drop a 18 yo euro for a 20 yo. I read Sprynar asked for a trade from Rimouski but the return is really meh for their contending season. They pay a 2nd with Sprynar to get a 20yo euro and a 3rd.

I read that Mikael Huchette is scheduled to play tonight for the Ramparts vs his potential future team the Volts, good to see he is feeling better.

Rather, if he is looking for a change and the price is right then CB would be a better fit than PEI simply because of the price, his upside, the talent is there. A somewhat inexpensive add verses potential upside. It was 30 months ago and a different management, albeit not improved much. The kid was back and forth as the 1st overall prospect and the family was rightfully looking for what they believed was the best option. That doesn't mean they hate CB or wanted zero to do with it. Fast forward 30 months, and if that draft went today he probably doesn't go near 2nd overall. Whether they changed his game style to more defensive, or whatever, the kid is struggling in scoring this season. The reality is those of us on this board really don't know his attitude, that's where those on the inside do know. If he was looking to move, the insiders felt he has the right attitude, and the discussions were that he was upbeat and wanted to come to CB and play hard, then yes he is worth a discounted price. Depending on discussion outcomes, I wouldn't close the door on anyone because of what may or may not have transpired 30 months ago. That all said, I'm a true believer of building from the draft and this team seems to just keep screwing that up. The reality is, because of this, they may simply not be in a position to "win it all" next year, regardless who they trade for. Their picks remaining are far from stacked, and trading for top players eats those picks quickly. If they are hell bent on adding this year with 1st's, I certainly wouldn't use them on 20's. I would most likely look to the price of a center like Fachon, who should be back as a 20.

Ultimately comparing CB to Charlottetown now as options still doesn't take into account the issue Peddle's family had with reporting to CB. That also had a negative effect on CB fans towards Peddle. You can't just say "that was then and this is now" when many CB supporters and likely many agents, scouts, Q followers, etc all believe little has changed in CB since that decision was made. I don't think he's worth touching for CB because of the history. You can't erase it. And if he comes here and becomes the crowds whipping boy how does that look for either side? There's massive downside in CB that doesn't exist in any other Q market. Which is why a deal will never make any sense.

Massive Downside in Cape Breto that doesn't exist in any other Q Market ?

If Peddle could come to Cape and score 40 goals I don't think there is a fan in the building that would not forgive the previous regime for any mistakes made during the 2021 negotiations or lack there of.
The reason I don't think CB should touch such a trade is the upside of the player and it has nothing to do with attitude. Drummondville is not giving him away, the price would be way to high and the talent is just not there, relative to the perceived value.
Anything less then an absolute homerun would leave the fans questioning the decision and I just don't see that happening.

I guess to criticize my own trade opinion, although the value is reasonable, would I be willing to gamble essentially a couple of 2nds and 3rd ( assuming my example in Houde equates to a 2nd round pick value ) on a player who may or may not turn it around. Probably not.

If he goes to Gatineau or Bathurst and sucks there's no other story there from the past. If he comes here and sucks...instant distraction. Because of the history. I can already read the posts of "Why trade for a kid who didn't want to be here". Why do that to anyone involved? Just seems like we'd be the absolute worst spot for him to try and turn it around.

The reason you don't is because he has 3+2 in 23 games in a year most expected him to be more of a point per game producer. If he was already on that 40 goal pace...its suddenly a different discussion. But like you said...the fan blowback from him not performing could be bad and i'd argue it could be a death blow because they can't afford to piss off more ticket holders.

what's a realistic deal for Horth then? An OA + high pick + young player who's a former 1st rounder seems around normal for an OA player. For context, last year Lawrence and Doucet, who are with all due respect much better players than any 20 available this year, went for the following - To Halifax : Josh Lawrence 4th round pick 2023 | To BLB: 1st round pick 2024 2nd round pick 2023 James Swan | To Halifax : Alex Doucet | To Val d'Or: 1st round pick 2023 2nd round pick 2023 3rd round pick 2024 |
Other notables included William Veillette who was moved to Victo for a 2nd and 3rd, Franky Lappenna who was moved to the Olympique for a 3rd, a 2nd, a 5th and 2 players that amounted to a bag of pucks. Olivier Adam was moved for a 3rd and a 6th, Manix Landry and Marshall Lessard were moved for a 2nd round pick each, Xavier Fortin and Charles-Antoine Dumont were swapped for each-other one for one. Gravel fetched a 5th, Huard Jr. a 6th and 4th, followed by an 8th later on. I probably missed a few in there, but, 1+2+3 I would say is the maximum value you should expect for a 20, and that's if you have the clear #1 guy available, which I don't think Horth, or Roelens, or Mianscum really qualify as. My thing with Jim Hulton is he's a little hard to predict, I'm sure he'd take picks but his preference would be players. We also know he likes building from the net out. He'll want guys he thinks can make an impact next year over picks. yeah I agree completely I don't think this years OA's are on that level, the only one I'd probably consider to be of similar value to Lawrence/Doucet would be Gill in BC but he's not moving. The difference this year is the majority of the contenders need/will upgrade their OA slots so there seems to be a bit more demand compared to last year. But I don't think that changes the overall value too too much. If the Titan can somehow get another 1st or 2 this Christmas I'd be happy as they need to take a proper direction. I think Henneberry and/or Arseneault could potentially fetch them a 1st as they're 1 and 1/2 year guys, and both playing at a PPG pace. They also bring size which could help any contenders middle six.

Cibulka might be one of the top euro targets for a contender, another 3 Pt game today gives him 26 points in 24 games on the worst team in the league.

also looking at Baie-Comeau's roster, it's kind of crazy how good they're doing and the fact that they could ice a pretty similar roster next season depending how the trade period goes. Wouldn't surprise me if they add some 19 YO's that could return as OA's, and they also have lots of pieces to move as potential futures as well.

Right now, I'd say they have a solid group that could return as OA's anyway. The older Jules Boilard, Olivier Ciarlo and Felix Gagnon would be an excellent group, that's not even mentioning Anthony Lavoie on defense. The Drakkar will end up moving 2004's out in the draft because they have more than 3 guys already that can play as 20's and play well.
